The images of this place give me a certain feeling. It seems like every wall in this place has a face that is fretfully showing sorrows. Esp with the caskets and all....there must be some hauntings.
yes it does look hainting ...like I said before it looks and feels like there ghost form might still be wondering around in there up and down the halls in the rooms to.
what is the difference between isolation and seclusion they seem the same to me your away from the common element either way
that pink is haunting
well, If I was a ghost I'd be too scared to spend the night in there..I might poke around during the day, though.
If I were a ghost I'd repaint the walls... Ugh, pink!

Why would this site be any more or less haunted than any other site? Any building that has had people pass through it is haunted by their memory, but it takes a good photographer like Motts to show it to us...
The funny thing is this one doesn't seem "haunting" to me at all... because I grew up working with horses, the dirt and exposed beams remind me of an old barn more than anything scary.
All of the vertical lines in the picture really draw your gaze up to that ceiling. It looks like the whole room is ready to consume you, like a bunch of feelers hanging down waiting to snatch you up and drag you away when you enter.
I want that door, great work Motts!
I agree with you all!!
It is simply horrifying!!
But i love it at the same time!!
lol the pink makes me laugh....and thoes are awsome floors haha jk....for some reason I keep thinking im gonna se some walk out from a dor or someting dropp ...idk maby its just me
The colour Pink gives away the fact that this was where the troubled ones stayed.

The colour Pink is known for its calming effect and is used in most holding cells in American jails.
I have spent over an hour looking at the various photos of the different places, and this particular shot really got to me. Don't know why.....
These pictures are just too much. Motts is taking pictures of things that one day will no longer exist.
this place is to freaky for me
Yea, this entire building just seems to ooze sorrow. Or it's that pink on the walls. I might say both, but I'm leaning more towards the pink.
Something about this photo and about the hallway/ward it depicts reminds me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Even though the thought of being in a seclusion ward is horrifying, this touches me somewhere and I can't explain it. I feel like I've been there before, many times.
Perhaps you were an inmate once Amy.
I rarely post comments but this is my second time through the galleries and I'm taking more time this go around and decided to share. Strangely, this picture doesn't seem nearly as cold as some of the others. The best I can figure is that the way the debris on the floor is laying, my mind has transformed it into a soft carpet of sorts and it makes the whole area seem softer and less harsh. Odd. Also, the oddly-angled room seems much more forgiving than the standard box shape. Strange that what would have been one of the more restrictive and harsh areas of the facilty now appears so much more hospitable. Powerful photograph, Motts.
I believe simply put that now isolation is when you are contagious, and that in "asylums" the correct term would be seclusion which islike being separated for behavioral safety. I think back when this place was in use, they still used the term isolation to mean being out of the general pop.
someone correct me gentlyif I am wrong, thanks.
Yes I believe you are correct; the titles of the photos are often a bit abstract and may not exactly reflect the photograph (it's not easy coming up with titles for 4,000+ photos!)
Whoops, I think I went *tinkle* in my jeans...lol jp
It looks like someone is being hanged on the wall straight ahead. Follow the black line down you will see a head, arm, and two legs!
Also it kinda looks like a skull between the two windows.
the pink threw me, whenever i think of hospitals i think white am i right
