Archway to nowhere. Void darkness
that ascends upon you out the dark tunnel.
Great combination of light and darkness..great shot!
Lately i visited a website named PHILLY H2O because I do research on the cities underground creeks (also a scary thought)
Amazing.
These histories are contingent with the cities sewer systems. A couple of hundred years ago many creeks were used as open sewers.A hundred years ago it seemed prudent to culvert these creeks and then fill over them.It solved several problems because now you could patent land and continue with the cities still developing plan of laying out streets in a grid pattern without having to deal with the many twists and turns of a stream.(newer developed neighborhoods do have twists and turns)
Also, you didn't have to worry about a bridge every time a new street was put through.
The subways-the Market/Frankfort line and the Broad Street line were simply bored through under an existing city.
Incidentaly my Grandfather worked on both sewers and subways in Europe when he was in his late teens.(he's long gone now as we're talking late 1890's,although he did live to age 94 )
