Excellent shot, got the wallpaper.. ! The length of the corridor and the hosereel leads the viewers eye to the sunlight filled windows. However, it is unsettling to see the two chairs positioned as they are, like they are hinting at the civilisation of the past that now leaves them vacant.

I absolutely plan to paint my new home with the wonderful lavender paint half way up the wall and maybe paint the rest maybe a institutional pink. Why didn't paint the whole stinking thing one awful institutional color?

the arrows on the wall could also be security patrol routes post abandonment.it helps them not get lost in these huge places.

Do you think that there were lowered ceilings at one point? Would that be why the paint only goes so far up the walls?

That's a pretty good guess - a drop ceiling with asbestos tiles that were removed.
