Wow, I adore this shot, and I love your caption for it as well, it's just awe inspiring.
...to be consumed by the looming darkness. Excellent image.
This is the "Motts" of chairs.
This shot scares me- it seems sinister, yet has some sort of beauty to it at the same time.
Do you use a flash? or natrual lighting? (or both)
I use both, this photo has mostly artificial light.
well, youve got a great eye for setting up and taking pictures!
THis is an amazing photo. Wonderful setup (found, I assume?) and great work.
I love it,it reminds me of how a person would be facing this creepy and dark place alone.
When you see this picture & read the caption, you can't help but want to cry for all the people who were sent here. Brave but unknowing.......
HOW BETTER TO DEPICT THE ISOLATION OF MENTAL ILLNESS. EVEN THE CHAIR SEEMS TO CLOSE IN UPON ITSELF
Motts man this image is F***ing AMAZING!! hey but where is this place?
Mott's doesn't give out locations, he doesn't want this site to become a shopping list of abandoned buildings. Please read disclaimer
I love this shot, great composition. Scary as hell. (Well maybe not quite :) )
Oh and lush lighting too!
absolutely awesome picture mate...

nice work..pity us british dont have anything quite so un-touched...
Awesome..The chair looks afraid of the dark, slightly recoiling in fear..ready to run..great photo. thanks for sharing
wow. this photograph is an inspiration to any one who has had to face up to their deamons in a time of crisis. I also get an optimitsic feeling about it, like the ending scene of "The Wall: The Movie."
Great photo. It really makes you think about mental illnesses, and how the patient must face their illness once they come to terms with it.
Dumped over to the other side. Where are you little soul?
this is prob. the best pic. ive seen yet
all these chair pictured reminded me of a small town nearby that was completely abandoned in the 70s for no known reason. a friend and i recently went to explore it, and found one house, almost collapsing into itself by now, but in every room, there was a single chair. it was like a horror movie, lol.
I too love the caption for this picture.
It makes you feel for the little wheelchair as if it had a soul of its own. Kind of like the brave little toaster
Motts, please turn this into wallpaper. Or sell it. This picture oozes atmosphere.
Nice choice for a name...

That movie's amazing.. Which, of course, might sound strange coming from a 15 year-old girl (considering most teens don't like ol' black and white films)....

Annnnyway. Amazing photo<3
Only the smart ones. ;-)
True Lynne.. :P

Only the smart ones will sit down and watch an old film and not complain about it.

And I mean that in the most non-conceited way possible ;)
i love wheel chairs (i like to ride them around in target its fun)
i like this shot.
brave wheelchair.
itkinda looks like the back of the wheelchair says ho for a secand but now i see its 40
THIS LOOKS LIKE OZ
I just finished a book on Christopher Reeve and the first thing I thought of was him when I looked at this chaire; really sad.
Such a quiet shot, but brooding... like the calm before the storm
Incredibly sad and lonely.

I agree, Joseph. Looking at it, i feel profound loneliness.
Hello Patricia, how are you ? Thank you for responding.

When I look at these photographs that are on this website I almost always try to write the very first thing that pops into my head. That way it is the most candid comment possible. I have written several comments so far. "Mott" seems to have a very good eye for taking photographs. I on the other hand just snap away with a camera. Every once in awhile I take a photo that I actually think is good but that is few and far between. This is a great website ! I am glad that someone is preserving these buildings with a camera. Some of these old buildings have some great architecture. Hopefully some of these buildings will be re - used again.

Take care and thank you.

this is one of the few situations in which one can effectively anthropomorphize <(how do you spell that) a chair. you can just imagine a scared little animal in a world of blackness and monsters
Awww that cute little wheelchair. I want to take it home!
Haunting.
Eh, sorry but that stain on the right wall, has a facelike features and it has a face that looks like something out of an alien movie :D

It does...
No, wait... Is it an graffiti??
What a powerful photo.........
very thought provoking. I like it a lot.
That is definatly going to be the wall paper on my cellphone.
My heart aches for all the people forced to live here. Imagine being thrown into a darkness like that...
I feel sorry for a wheelchair.

Motts, what are you doing to me?! Lmao!
I would love very much to have this my background....
I don't see bravery, I see emptyness. Like the wheelchair stands alone. Number 40, a ghost of a life.
Facing the door to freedom and won,
Makes me vey sad....
oops very
Sooo sad..makes me think whoever used this wheelchair must have sat for hours just staring into the darkness in his-her own mind.
