Amazing shots here. You have to figure that somewhere there are similar photos when these places were in use. Did they ever imagine it would look like this one day?
That is what enchants me. The thought that years ago people walked through these halls and into these rooms. These buildings have seen so much! The history, the memories, people I have never met that have lived a life completely different from mine. The way they live can be seen through a crack in the wall. Maybe I only make sense to myself but looking at this photograph at these photographs It's almost as if I am being allowed to share in so many other peoples life good or bad.
I feel the same way as Jessica.
ya, what jessica said
Hey, are those metal ceiling tiles?
Yep, stamped tin I believe...
I've noticed the ceilings in your other photos of this location, they are quite amazing. Great gallery!
Jessica...For your information, this place was hell for the unfortunate souls that lived here.
damn that looks like the house by my house that was abandoned and my frind broke into
I dunno, tom.
I imagine if you're too mentally ill to be among the general populace, you're in hell no matter where you go.
i have just came out of a mental health centre it is now un pc to say asylum in new zealand this hospital was so drab and boring just a concrete building compared to these old buildings with auditoruims and buildings with carecter i was not even allowed to have a smoke inside hospital grounds these old hospitals can't have all been bad.
Smoking may calm the nerves, but it's still a communal health hazard-probably no longer encouraged as a coping mechanism. Architectural detail is a definite plus compared to our cookie-cutter construction.
I love the old ceiling tiles.
