Awakenings one great movie
Is that where it was filmed?
It does look like the chairs are lined up for movie watching.
It appears to me that they are racing in slow motion.
That had to be one of the best movies. It was based off a true story too. doesn't that blow your mind? the people were just... gone and then when they took the medication they just... came back... but then it went away... its so sad.
The race shall begin and the horses are nervous and ready to go. The question? Where are they going?
SURVIVAL OF THE ISANE? AS LONG AS YOU MAKE AN EFFORT TO "SIT" AMONGEST THE LIFELESS SHELLS THAT CAN STILL DRAW A BREATH THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A SMALL CHANCE FOR YOU. BUT DON'T GO AGAINST THE ORDER OF THE CHAIRS OR YOU WILL BE SITTING ALL ALONE IN A ROOM SO DARK BELOW THE GROUND YOU'LL FELL DEAD.
You know, describing people with psychiatric issues as "lifeless shells that can still draw a breath" is considered insensitive most places. Have you worked in a lot of facilities that you know this is true, or have you just read a number of those dime store Gothic novels with Jane Eyre endings?
Very colorful chairs
HUZZAH for Lynne....
negative nancy lynne. i spent a great deal of time avoiding drool streams
Then you need to sit up straighter.
Aaarrrggghhh!!! Even MORE useable wastage! >:-(
All shapes, colors and sizes.....interesting group shot of chairs!
hey spok, i thought the same thing, two great minds.......
I would be grossly inaccurate if I described any of the people with mental illness that I have known as "lifeless shells." Very rarely, heavy sedation was needed for a few hours after an especially severe psychotic episode, but this was never the person's "normal" (baseline) state. Like everyone else, they were people with opinions, dreams, fears, memories, imaginations, pet peeves, skills, jokes, etc.--all the components that make up a personality. Some of what are called the "negative symptoms" of schizophrenia--lack of interest, flat affect, unresponsiveness--are not due to psychotropic drugs but to the illness itself. Yes, some psychiatric medications do have side effects that are found intolerable for some patients and those patients choose to not take medications because of that. Most patients find the side effects an acceptable price to pay for the relief of symptoms of mental illness. One of the most difficult medication-related experiences I remember was when Clozaril was first introduced. For many long-term patients for whom other neuroleptics had already failed, it really was a miracle drug. It gave them back what mental illness had taken from them. What was so sad was when one of the patients who had exhibited such a dramatic improvement with the drug developed a blood condition called agranulocytosis (a dangerously low, life-threatening, level of blood white cells). When that happened, the drug's protocol required that it be stopped immediately.
if i was there i could just see me fighting over the blue or red chair....and the the opertunity of being ablt to sit in a colored chair was taken away from me, the i might go insane.

and that my friends is the reason i would be stuck in place like that!
Creepy - love it!
