Was just curious as to if anyone knows if this place is guarded? My friend and I travel all around to haunted and historic sites and would love to visit this one
Yes it is . there is security and police that do patrol checks.
your good if you go at nite... because you will see flashlights... problem is you wont knw where the fuck you are haha
they only patrol around like a few times then leave, just listen close for the cars, it's so quiet you can run back inside a building in time, thats what me & my friends did. During they day is better your 1st time!
buy a cheap night vision scope!
What will happen if u get caught there
Depends on who catches you.
Pennhurst seems to be in pretty bad shape, compared to others.
just so you guys know the military guards it.. they have cameras now... this place is on lock down
Well, for the first part, the only reason there is anything about the military is because of the power plants ONLY... i go quite often, and there is only patrol cars that run by every now and then, all you have to do is take a camera and some shit, and tell them you are there for pictures for a documentry or a web site, all they can do is tell you to leave
It is patroled by the local police, security for the nearby SE PA VA center, and is on state grounds right next to the active National Guard Armory, and like the man said, there's cameras. Philadelphia Magazine did an expose' on Pennhurst by Loretta Schwartz
( now Schwartz Nobel ) back in the Fall of 1976...well worth the price of a backcopy.

If you are going to take the time to track this down please read it with an open mind. It's basically another one sided look at life in Pennhurst. I remember when they came to do that article. No one was happy with the outcome.
There is an x-ray machine transformer behind the examination lamp.
I would never go anywhere close to that place at nite!!
if your going to go to pen hurst you might wanna make your trip soon because they are starting to tear it down its privatly owned now and its getting harder and harded to get in. you must get permission from either the garage peopleor the owner
wet wet-
thats so sad. It just doesnt feel right to tear something like this down.
pennhurst is government owned now and the marines practice in the barracks so yes this is very very guraded.
They are currently turning it into a haunted house for Fall 2010...
What are the conditions as for as visiting pennhurst say after the haunted house is gone? I mean it can't stay a haunted house forever. Lol!
