i used to live across the street from this! looks like you weren't able to get in, huh. i mean, it's not abandoned but parts of it are, but security's hella tight there. i wouldn't even try though i've stories about it happening. i actually went to take a tour there once, but then found out it was only of the grounds and not inside of any part. grr. my cousin was in there for a while, hehe. i'm a psych major so i may look into working there someday. that's a great shot, btw, i've seen so many and this one's far more dramatic. most everyone calls it simply "the psych center", but the building is now formally known at "the richardson complex." sorry for writing a book!

haha, i just noticed this is included in your 'urban decay' series. the hospital is the architectual pride of this area, we are an urban decay though.

I live right across the street from the Psych Ward and I get an amazing view of the two towers from my bedroom every night. I love being able to say I live across the street from a haunted house lol! These pictures are great; did you need special permission to take or were you allowed on the property?

My Grandfather became a director there in 1933. Dr. William H. English. He had my grandmother committed until the time of her death is what I was told. Her family was from Canada. Creepy.

i was inside that place a few times about 5 years ago. When we went inside we sad cell phones and cameras with us which would not work until we left the building. Lots of un explianed foot steps and weird noises. The basement looks like a cave with a domed celing. all of the rooms are the same size with winding hall ways. very weird

My cell phone and camera worked fine when I was inside of there; the only odd noises to be heard were the echoes of my own footfalls. (The central administration building, in particular, makes for a massive echo chamber)

Absolutely amazing shot.

The problem is, in the 1800's a there was a lot to be learned, insted of understanding mental illness medical science was crude and conditions for the paitents were horrible. Think about some one who suffered from a psychosis being brought here. On first sight we see it at a great building , the paitent on first sight : A scary place to be.
