Cane Chair

Cane Chair

This wheelchair could be moved by the arm on the side, which pulled gears that moved both wheels in unison. The occupant might've wound up with one strong right arm though.

Quite interresting, i've never seen such a varity of wheel chairs...
i saw an elderly gentelman using one of these about a year ago at a nursing facility my father was in, the gentelman appeared very frail but had no problem opperating the chair.
Quite possibly for someone who's had a stroke, or has partial paralysis. Say their left side didn't work as well as the right. Therefore, to get around in the wheelchair, just use the cane apparatus with the right hand.
I have seen one other type, where the gentleman lost both arms. He was pushing a longer rod with his foot.
Throttle-up!

looks like some one's feet laying on the gurney in the upper left-hand corner(sarcophagus) or- a baby car seat.
Maybe they only had one arm :)
...good idea if your scooter battery dies!
When I was sent to a nursing home to recuperate after major surgery, a woman there had a chair like this. I don't know if this is true for everyone in this type of chair, but this woman had a very hard time steering her chair.
