Now this IS a waste...I know there's a market for bowling alleys and, believe it or not, you CAN move them! I saw where someone bought a decomissioned air force base and converted it to commercial use and cut up one of the bowling alleys to make a humongous confrence table - it was about 15' long and must have weighed over 1,000 lbs 'cause that's rock maple, edge laminated and VERY thick.
Yeah, those lanes would be worth something. The lanes are never outdated, just the equipment gets updated. A bowling alley near me closed and all the lanes were very quickly snatched up by a guy in Florida. *bowler, grew up in various establishments in the South East*
As a fellow bowler, I love ancient bowling lanes. very 60s and simple. I know someone would love to have all of that equipment .
Motts, didja throw a bowling ball down the alley and get a strike?
Nah, no bowling balls were left behind! There was a cop sitting outside the building too...
As Camper Van Beethoven would say, "Take the schizoids bowling...take them bowling."
What a waste. My daughter used to be in a bowling league in school and they knocked down the whole building to put new highway in--pathetic!
Motts, i'm not sure when you went, but as of around a year ago you could still find bowling balls around the campus. We tried looking for one back in january but no luck, so i guess theyve all been taken
March 2005... didn't see any bowling balls unfortunately!
There are some bowling balls we went bowling in what was it this just past November, I believe. A few pins as well, but not actual ones they were little kiddy ones. It was pretty fun...
J4ecks, if the place didn't try to kill you (twice!) i would say we need to go bowling again!
Hey, where is the bowling alley located in the buildings?
its in the hilltop
it's actually in the recreation building directly across from hilltop.
This was the rec hall, first building on the left past the main building. Played several games here in 1975-6 and got paid 10 cents a frame to reset the pins for other players as there was no automated pin set up.
Last time i tried to bowl in there the lanes where so filthy it was impossible to bowl accuratly, but the game was still fun as hell.
That is the rec building right?
No, they kept the bowling alleys in the morgue.
coolness .

i would love to slide down that thing in some socks .
it would be great .
Goodbye clean socks. Those lanes where so dirty it was impossible to play an accurate game!
So damn loud when we bowled there! I thought the cops would be rolling up any second.
awesome! no one said anything about the freaky ghosts or the spectral lights at the other end!

oh, wait...
hey i was a patient at this place for 2 weeks when i was 14 yrs old
