That brings back some rather bad memories. When I was a Peds othopedic case at a general hospital in West Virginia. Only diffrence was the cribs there had little notches for a lid for the more unruly peds paitents. I got the lid at one point.
I work in a nursing facility in Quincy, Illinois. I have been a CNA for about 8 years. It is amazing even in my 8 years in nursing how we have gone from full restraints to no restraints. I can only imagine being a worker at one of these horrible places. How could you face your family each night knowing that you kept these people tied, gagged, and caged all day every day???? I sometimes cry thinking about it.
I'm curious about those papers on the floor.
More evidence of children with TB.
what with having tb and all, i very much doubt that anyone was gagged, let alone tied and caged.

lynne? over to you....
Only me. Well, and Dr. Sketch when he came to visit. :-)
Not only adults were in the TB hospital. There were also children.Once you were in the hospital, it was rair if you left. Some patients even became crippled from TB. Because of this they had to were painful devices, like leg braces. You can still hear moning and crying down the halls. Many patients had died here before becoming even a little better. This TB hospital was over crowed. There were patients in the halls. Supplies were limited and not all of the patients recieved treatment.
I got the "lid" as well
This place is a children's TB hospital. There are other pictures of it on the web.
I Agree with that ,Kara sunshine
KARA SUNSHINE! Should you by ANY chance see this again, I too am from Quincy, IL! Please, if you get the chance, email me at kayleighstratton [at] gmail [dot] com.
@ Kara:

What do you mean, no restraints? I also work in a hospital, and we routinely have to restrain suicidal, violent, or confused patients. Even back then (as Lynne the psych nurse has said MANY times), it was done for the safety of both these people and the staff, not as a form of torture!
Wow, I just realized that comment was from 5 years ago. Doubt she'll ever see it, hehe.
hi all, spooky site
My mom (who works as a nurse) was pissed off about the fact that when I came out of surgery (I forget whether it was the open heart surgery or spinal fusion with hardware surgery) I was 4-way restrained. They said it was because they didn't want me to pull the ventilator tube out.
and to think of the many babys that were abondoned by their familys then caged up.... :(

Question: What does not belong: bed, hospital, nurse, fish
