A twin stack cooler lies in the dank basement.

Aw, so thoughtful, a slab just for our little Junior!
truly sad things, the photos tell a story by themselves.

And the person who posted the last message "max" apparently is a tacky individual judging by his comment.
I AGREE WITH THE THE COMMENT FROM 1337, YOU ARE IGNORANT "MAX"
A very ignorant comment.......I went up there last week, very sad. If you think the photos tell a story, try walking the rooms.
u folks gotta lighten up. shit happens, and UE is fun and funny, morgues need to exist, if u cant look at one with out getting all teary-eyed, dont look
im with max on this one
I slightly agree with 7728 and Max, but as well with the others.
It is sad that people have died in these places, and have been put in morgues.
But there's nothing wrong with making a clever comment. It's not ignorant.
Was making jokes about the "One Milk Only" sign ignorant? No? That's right. ;)
The thought of a children's morgue is kind of creepy though, I must admit. I find morgues so neat though.
i think i'm going to just stop reading the comments because, although most are intelligent, the ignorant ones are appallingly so.
ugh at the pic. And what is up with these idiots who try to act smart, but yet they use all caps?
I've never been able to find the childern's morgue. Hmm. I mean, I've never been there before.
it is sad and I don't think that the comment was funny, people have no compassion for the dead .. and the all cap's to me tell's me they are young teens that have way to much time on their hands and are doing to many drugs, cap's =yelling not netiquite
Sometimes we use humor because it is the only way to deal with that which is horrifying. Any morgue, but especially that of children in a place such as this, is something most of us choose not to think about. I was at first offended by the comment from Max, but then I remembered my sister and I going to pick out our mother's casket. Humor was the only way we could keep from cryiing and was in no way a sign of disrespect. On the other hand, If Max is truly a callous individual, God bless him in his ignorance. ;->
i think you are not responding to the comment max made but your feelings about the slabs and their use for children bodies. a pic like this is bound to spark incomfortable feelings, that is why it is so fantastic.
Yes, I was responding to my feelings, but also saying that maybe Max was being insensitive to hide his own feelings and people shouldn't be so hard on him because he doesn't respond the way we might expect him to.
mindwrker, i hear ya about the picking out of the mother's casket. My mother died six months after cancer diagnosis, and humor was the ONLY thing that kept her and I sane. Even now, when she comes to see me in my dreams, she makes me laugh.
GlennDale is beautiful. Everytime my friends and i travel there. We look forward to seeing what may appear in the dark halls and lonley rooms. I CLIMBED IN THE MORGUE! yeah....i know...how could i. But. i did. :D
xxexplorer ur one kewl dude climbing into a morge suite!!!
I'm sorry, Lynne, but I don't think it ever ends...

[slow, horizontal cranial movement taking place......]
If you live, you die. Sad but true. Sometimes people die when they are children, sometimes when they are old. Sad but true. The time between is what matters, so I don't see where death is offlimits for jokes, even when it's a child dying.

I can't stop laughing right now because of my computer's choice in music. It is randomly shuffling my music, and while writing this it played "Dead Babies" by Alice Cooper, followed by "Pet Cemetary" by The Ramones. Is it wrong to laugh? Probably, but I'm ok with being wrong...
Sketch, it's good to be wrong from time to time, it is how we learn and also a way to have fun.
Bri, I will not comment on your horizontal movements, if you don't talk about mine.
:0X
nice i guess............
There is no reason to pity the dead. They are gone. I have a strong feeling that all of the people that are so taken aback by the "insensitive" comments have never actually been inside an abandoned building. Its creepy, its full of decay, and its ok to make jokes. We all die. Get over it.
Jesus, y'all - look who's back! The ghost of our dear departed friend, Thomas Covenant! 8`-)

P.S. Danny, have you spent any time in a functioning morgue with real children who have died or have you ever actually lost a child? The humor dies down a little at that point. Black humor doesn't bother me when it's something you do to handle dealing with death when you have to face it, especially on a day to day basis like some folks do.
Life ends in death. Sad, i guess, but a fact. Kids die, moms die, gramma's die. Its ok. No one was making any specific comments about anyone else's dead kids.
You know. I just read and responded to a post of yours (Danny) where you were openly admonishing everyone for not talking more about "art"

I didn't realize that your admonishment applied to everyone but you.
ive been looking for that room and i cant find it some one tell me where it is
Dis_One - You're on the wrong site if you expect an answer to that.
i couldnt find it either
my dad's closest friends dad was one of the main docters..have you ever seen that house next to the hospital?..that used to be his.
This photograph indeed may evoke different feelings and reaction in many of of us, and I think that sometimes they might be contradicting of each other.
At the same time, we can also "Agree to disagree"
i got pics of me n all my boys laying in those n the ones in the adult buildings lol haha lemme know if you wunna see um
stop talking about max, is he in the picture? no
from what I remember...main building..keep heading downstairs..the level before you reach the tunnels (often filled with H2O) ...i remember there were directions in spray paint....in the same general area of the (marked) padded rooms...

great pictures...love the site...
Max is a sick twisted boy, man this place has so much too it already and i hate to think about kids dyeing, i know it happens but it aint right to make comments about it
man who cares about what max says i bet the were some messed up bodys on there
I was at the hospital today but it got dark so we didnt get to go to the childrens section I am planning another trip in the near future. but from the photos i saw of the childrens section it looks very scary.
i also think that kid max is a deushbag for saying what he did
I agree with steven very scary
Max didnt do anything wrong.

just because some poeple are over-sensitive about some issues doesnt mean others should censor themselves. it was a joke, wether he has or has not had an expierence with a child that has died has nothing to do with it. i have a son that was born with a 60% chance of death and i still enjoy a good dead baby joke. the reaction is personal, dont blame him for not being like yourselves.
I believe Frued said it best..."If one ponders himself til the end of time, he will find nothing but the truth."
shit guys.....take it easy on max......sure the joke was insensitive.......but people die evry where.....that kind of thing happens.....however that morgue is a sad place and a monument to the young children who died there.....so think before u speak max
Why not lets all not be complete dorks and actually you know talk about hmm. . . . maybe the hospital and not Max.

Does anyone know a site where i could like an overview of the place, or even better a layout of the insides? We spent four hours there and couldnt locate the morgue. If you know anything helpful it'd be awesome if you could email me idkillu4adollar@yahoo.com. Thanks.
renne has a point
Wow, these photos bring back memories. I must have roamed these halls 20 times as it was the 'hip' thing to do in high school. I remember there was an elevator shaft room (complete with working door - a rarity in that place) that we would hang in. You could hear all the goings on in the building. We actually headed down into the tunnels that connect the two main buldings. The also give access to the resident houses. Its a shame they never did something with this place, it would have made a nice campus. I recall one halloween when taking some friends who had never been I ended up in the hospital by myself. I was overly confident, ran across the lot to the main buliding and was 1/2 way up the latter when security spotted me. I ended up running into the hopsital to avoid being busted. (was always a major fear of mine to be in that place alone) but being arrested was a greater fear so it took some of the fear out of the hopsital itself. Thanks for the memories...Were there pics taken with persmission? If anyone is interested I had an almost fool proof way of gaining access (accept that one halloween)
my friends and i have been in the hospital many times. the latter of the many we had a ghostly experience. we we walking through the adult ward and felt a large vibration, kinda like a quick beat from a powerful bass. we all stopped not knowing if we really felt it. thinking it might be cops we started to run alongside the back of the building as we ran by my brother and i both looked up at the 5th story window and saw a young boy watching us out of the window. i stopped and pointed, the boy stepped back into the darkness, he didnt seem to have a light or anything but i guess he could have been another explorer. theres something wrong with that place.
Hey Ryan, So what's your fool proof way of getting into the place, I have never been, and me and some friends want to check it out.
Hey Glenndale Explorer, If you can help to, that would be cool. We wanna go sometime soon, so any help would be greatly welcomed , Thanks
Accessing locations will not be discussed on this website, thank you.
i was recently there. didnt attempt to go down to the mourge. stairs arent stable, it would be a tragedy if you were to be trapped down there
funny how different locations people have mentioned on here end up going up in flames :0)
urban explorers...lofl
looks comfortable
i was just at Glen Dale 10-28 it was about 11:30ish and when me and a group of friends of mine were by the mourge we kept hearing a loud banging coming from further down the hallway and another strange thing was when we approched the mourge it was really cold the other hallways and the rest of the building were a comfertable tempature.
thats sadd.
Death is something to not only be mourned but celebrated as well. As a Pagan I believe that the body dies and the soul keeps on living and we keep going through rebirths.
Why does everyone keep posting irrelevant comments to the picture. Everyone knows what death is, and everyone knows what a morgue is for. I've stood in the very spot that picture was taken; alone, because my group wouldn't go down the the second basement with me. If you want to make stupid comments about death or "Junior's slab", or try to criticize someone for making out of place comments...go find the morgue yourself, stand in front of it in half a foot of freezing water, alone with a flashlight. See how your thoughts and feelings change on the matter.
i have heard that when u go near this wing there are children screaming and crying
[ I messed up i got confused lol.]That's sad. For my birthday a couple of my buds and i are going to see this place. I hope to find things that can tell me what they did to the poor Children that were Froze in these morgues. It's sad to think that Children were Freezed in these..I

If you wanna join me in the Journey Let me know. Maddiethecoolloser@hotmail.com or xXLovelyxHateXx
I think the people that agree wit max r stupid think if ur brother died would u joke. I just went last week and seeing the childrens morgue made me wana cry
yes this photo is sad , all you people with comments about max have givin him what he wants, the power to laugh. it would have been best to ignore him,
Glen Dale Hospital is an amazing place. The amount of ghost stories I could tell from being inside the childrens building as well as the morgue... I could write a book. This place was host to many horrible happenings, and yet its beauty is unmatched.
is there really a tunnel if so were exactly could I find it??
i went there to day i got some pictures i taged a building i have no clue were i was at i was with 3 of my other friends it was the building next to the park an ride if you go there go to the freezer you will see H.M.C,Sly,and giudice of cource so check it out it was worth the trip!!!!!
Giudice!!!
Omg. i was there with you. Haha. and yeah if neone else goes there, look beside the giant pot leaf and it says "Kasi and Ash." Omg. it was pimp. were going back.
>>Giudice
>>Kasi

Mother fuckers! You fucking pathetic assholes are the ones fucking that place up, and way to think your being reconized, along with every other 700,000 "meaningfull" tags and shitty art, the only souvineres we took where pictures and could hardly even reconize the sheer beauty of the buildings with all the paint on the walls. Well, at least you where "cool".
Hey when I went there I sat on one of those in the childrens morge and took a picture too.
ʹm freeze, how many tears, I can image it
could anybody give me some info on the security at GDH. i went there 4 years ago but i would really like to go back and see it again.
Yea, I have been there recently, They have a police trailer on the read that cuts though, e,ectriv ave I think its called, there are usualy 2 cars parked at it from what I have noticed of my at least 30 passes by it, from people i have heard that the plice do not actualy patroll inside the buildings and dont put much efffort into the chase if you are seen, i have seen park police pickup trucks driving along the roads nearby and i know if they notivce your car parked in a suspicious place the will ticket you, and wait for you to come back it your car in wich you are screwed with a fine of $500 and community service (this is the actual punishment from an aquantance, when i had gone in we were making al lot of noise and had our lights shining everywhere and didnt get cought, but on other occasions i hace seen people in buttondowns goign building ot building, i think they might have been state inspection though, they had an eye on our car wich i didnt like... i recomend you park at the shoppin center nearby and sacrifice a lloonngg walk to save yourself a bit of risk, but yea... theres your info... heh
Also, if you woudl in return, i woudl like to know the condition of it 4 years ago, becouse its in terrible contision now, the only origional thing we found was a small tournqit (sp) in a steril wrapper oin the ground. this was in the main building, we didnt have time to go into any of the others, maybe there better and not dso vandalised... also, sorry for all the spelling errors, its late, and im kinda rushing...
i was in there for along time and did not find the morgue
WERE IS IT?
i was in that room it was real creepy i didnt stay in it for long...its all the way on the bottom floor
sounds scary wuts the best place to go to the . the childrens? or the adults? which one
I cant help but notice the obvious marks on the upper door, on the inside-
Who was trying to claw or scratch their way out? It is almost impossible to imagine that anyone other than someone placed inside these as a possible punishment would care to go to the trouble to scratch or otherwise cause the damage as shown!
Man I was in that room,I went with 5 other people and we went too both buildings. let me just say creepy diffently go with a group of people also we were there too long and got caught 24hrs community service that sucked
i haven't been there is it your thought the place is dangerous like you fear falling thur the floor or the stairs would collapse, or maybe something might fall on your head
what state is this place located in? that looks like a cool place to explore. wow. i wonder what it was like for the workers. and the patients. and that scared me reading about the scratched area. wheres that at?
i use to live by the hospital probably like 5 mins away and any time i would pass the hospital i would get a weard feeling. o hope they make it a musem and fix it up that would be so cool
You guys ever wonder things like,

Who was the last body removed from this freezer? What kind of conditions did he suffer from? Does he have any family still alive? What kind of person was he?

Think about that all the time when I look at these photos.
A child's garden of morgues-can you beat that.........
Heavy feeling there! Sad!
It's sad to think that a persons body was worth more to science that life it self. Makes you wonder how hard doctors worked to save someones life if they were dying. With all the over crowding is was easier and cheaper just to let them die. That makes me sad to think about it.
oh that shit is brutal me and some friends are taking a trip up there soon...gotta get a pic with me in it
It amazes me some of the comments I read...people who have no respect for the dead and what they suffered here. My father was in a Sanitorium when he was 16-19. The stories he told me make me shudder when I look at these pictures.... there just aren't words to describe it.
Wow who cares a bout what people say u think what u think go on with life. P.S. Nice pic.
the bottom door almost looks like it has a foot print on it..
This kind of places give me the chills only because I'm claustrophobic =
i dont agree with max have some respect thats a place for the ded you dont joke about a thing like that it was a childrens mourge have some respect
ive seen this i got picture of the adult morgue if u would like me to send them.
I really appreciate seeing these pictures. My mother ,Rosemary(Payne) Littrell entered there as a patient (TB) when I was 1 to 1 1/2 years old and died there two months after my 3rd birthday (Oct. 1947). My only memories of the place are of one visit. We apparently were taken there by my uncle in his taxicab and someone stayed down with me while the rest of the family went up to visit my mother. I wasn't allowed to go up. The one visit I remember is when my mother threw two dogs she had crocheted for me out of the window, which of course she shouldn't have done, but so far I have never had any signs of the TB. My father did get it during my freshman year of high school, but did recover. If there is anyone who worked there, was a patient there or a family member of a patient who remembers my mother I would love to hear from you. I am on Myspace.com/Carolyn Smith
I just heard about the hospital! I just found out it was. Mi friend who is teacher at my school told me a scary story! It happend Along time ago when she was in school. Her and her friends were makeing a video for school they decided to go into the hospital a run around an have a Lil fun. The police found them, so they started running, when they ditched them all 20 of them hid in the playground. They were quiet so the police won't catch them. All of a suddend they started hearing childrens laughter and children playing. They wen't home watch the video and wen they watch it, they didn't hear the children. Creppy! That childrens morgue is creppy but sad. R.I.P. And the pics do tell a story.
heh, like the band Iron Maiden states from their song Wasted Years... "As soon as your born, your dying". yeah, we live, we die. my dad is a funeral director and owns the place, how do you think i feel?? and gee, no cop can harm me either because i have semi full access to all the rooms in his parlor. im still waiting to drive the hearse though... :D
Went to glenn dale a few nights ago the police have now boarded all the doors and windows so there is no entry point without having to take the boards down kind of dissapointing.
That's very creepy to say the least.
Beautiful picture. And to all of the bitchy folks- if morgue's didnt exist- where would we put the dead people? Just let 'em hang out with the rest of the patients until the trip to the cemetery?? Geez- lighten up!
heh, its good ot have semi full access to your dads funeral home... still waiting to drive the hearse though... let alone own one :D
We went here one night a few years ago i layed on one of these. creepy
that is scary as not havin a cell phone
