Like an Egyptian tomb.
Just like in a horror film. Walking down a dark corridor, not knowing what could be lurking within each of those doors...waiting for something to jump out at you. Gives me goosebumps.
Alright there's a lot of TB hospitals, is it like what cancer is to us now? INFO PLEASE!
Tuberculosis, also known as Consumption during the turn of the last millenia. (1800-1900). Refered from here on as TB.
Is the most common major infectious disease today.
Transmission can only occur from people with active TB disease,
The cause of tuberculosis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), is a slow-growing aerobic bacterium that divides every 16 to 20 hours. This is extremely slow compared to other bacteria,TB is spread through aerosol droplets which are expelled when persons with active TB disease cough, sneeze, speak, or spit.
What happens with this disease is that the alveoli inside the lungs(the little grape bundle looking things that help with oxygen transfer and CO2 diffusion), begin to harden and stop functioning.
Often the result of this is the patient coughing up great amounts of blood.
The term consumption came from the appearance of the patients looking as though they were being consumed from the inside out.
During the later parts of the 1800's patients were sent out west in hopes that the higher elevations and drier climates would help them breathe.
Later when the Iron Lungs were developed, they found equal if not better success in the treatment of this disease.
Iron Lungs also went into common usage when the polio epidemic hit, and there were paitients
whose chest muscles were affected and they were unable to inhale and exhale without assistance.
Tuberculosis Hospitals did not begin to open in the United States until 1885. The American Tuberculosis Association, changed names and is now the American Lung Association.

In the many years and study of this disease, there are treatments and vaccinations available. For more information on the disease and your area of the country, contact your local health department, or speak with your own doctor.

Doc Holliday the famous poker playing gunslinger from the wild west days. Died of TB, in a Sanitorium in Colorado in 1887.

I hope this was enligjtening enough, if not, do a search for Tuberculosis in the search engine of choice, and read up.
I could have gotten deeper on the subject, but I didn't want to sound like an Epidemiologist.
Great pic! I was also there! If u can see.. There is a head in the upper right hand corner. Then a HUGE orb right in the top middle!! I can tell what it is because I did a project on this
i went there yesterday, thats the scaryist place i ever been to i came in on the side closest to the water tower and there was to people on the top floor lookin at us and they eyes were like a sort of glowing blue, so if u go up there come in the side by the water tower and look on the top floor for a while and i bet u will see it
this looks like one of the cleaner hallways.
Hey this is da same hallway me and my friends walked down it was really creepy at night tho
you see that orb lookin thing in the top right o shitttttttttt haha sike that hospital aint shit me n my boys go up there all the time with some ladies hahaha if anybody wants a tour of the underground holler i know it like the back of my hand
i member dis
i went in thr it was scary but we managed
When I saw the Waverly Hills special on tv, it broke my heart to see parents having to say good-bye and leave their little children when they had TB. That must have been awful and back then they really had an epidemic and many many died.
Hey skeeter I want a tour of the place... Looks eerie and interesting
it looks like a image of a lady in this pic thats nutzzzzzz!!!!
Does anyone know the names of each building? I was recently at Glenn Dale and I passed teh childerens ward and onto the next building which seemed to be a housing area. it had a garage on the bottom floor. that was the only building i entered andi wish to retunr to see more. Im not asking on how to get in without the cops seeing me. i just want to know what buildings are what.

Oh and i a had walked towards the smoke stack and then decided to turn around and come back another time when on the way back i was next to the childerens ward and i heard what sounded liek a woman screaming coming from the adult ward which is on the other side of the property. the sound was really faint at first then became louder and closer. but as it got closer it started to sound like animals fighting. so im not sure if it was an animal or and actual huanting noise. but that is the only occourance i came across but i will return next weekend and see what happens.
2 cats fighting can let out some loud screaming noises.
Maybe it's just me but I see an orb (sign of spirts) in the upper right corner.....
I am trying to get a small group of friends to go there. I am very interested in paranormal investigation. I hope I get the opportunity to see this TB hospital.
this is right wen u get in there... that hallway goes on FOREVER
their is an orb in the upper right hand corrner ha ha ha it is haunted

I LOVE IT!!!!!
i was walking down one of these hallways and i heard what seemed to be a like cart rolling across the floor and someone walking be hind it and in the room i could hear kids lauging. i got freaked out and got outta there!!..
Weird. It has been reported before that someone heard something which sounded like a metal cart being pushed across one of the upper floors.
Nice shot. Looks like a shoe or a really big bug stuck to the cieling.
I love old buildings but something about this one freaks me out.
I love this picture for some odd reason, perhaps it's because it is unsettling ...but then again I'm looking at these and listening to the Wraithmarsh music from Fable II on repeat which, by the way, is a great song for abandoned and dead places.
I went ther last nite....6 of us with 2 flashlights at night its really creepy, we only walked through the 1st floor, a lot of gang grafiti on the wall and stuff. also watch out for bats there were a few. i saw a couple of orbs but nothing to crazy....also be careful of where you shine the flashlight it attracts the police, we made the mistake. it was really fun to investigate, really good if your a thrill seeker. one thing i noticed is when i walked in you get a chill, and it felt like there was an aura all around my body. my advise is to be the one in the front of the group rather than the one in the back, if youre in the middle not as much as a thrill.
Like a rolling stone.
there is a HUGE orb on the upper right corner of this shot! thats freaking awesome!
yes. i see an orb (in the upper right hand corner). definitely something creepy about this hallway... wonder what is hiding in the shadows?
Ring around the rosey, Pockets full of poseys ashes, ashes we all fall down
