Those blocks were benches. Shame someone kicked them over.
To my understanding this place has been empited out since 1981 or 1982.

I wonder if they're preserving it as a landmark or perhaps plans to renovate it someday. Then again, perhaps it's in too bad of shape to consider renovating and maybe should be demolished.
Nothing that has a historic background (like these places) should be demolished, no matter how bad a shape it is in; people should try to preserve the history. And its a sad day when people do knock places like this down just to built houses or offices.
they cannot renovate this place easily at all. The building closed due to asbestos. Thats a hard one to fix. More great photography.

The building is beautiful but unfortunately is is riddled with asbestos and would cost a fotune to demolish and can't be renovated. That is why it sits like it has for 27 years.
