A small cube of hell. Pity the patients who had to try to survive here. Maybe pity the staff who had to watch over them more, if they happened to have a caring bone in their body.
I have noticed allot of pentsagrams/pentacles on things and it always amases me that people are not aware what the true meaning of it is ... just like people think that 666 is satanic and the mark of the beast when in all actuality the mark of the beast is 999
when i look at this picture i get a sense of feeling of what the patients went threw and it's not a good feeling.
All those pentagrams and the 666. I wonder if these were made by teenegers trying to be evil.
im 16 and have been 2 many psych hospitals, i have even been kicked out of adolescent units nd had 2 stay on the adult units... almost every unit ive been 2 has this message written in red more then once: 'wELCOME TO HELL - 666"
any one see house on haunted hill??? the pencil in the neck thing... sweet.
that couldnt be sane as in sane and smith from NY could it? then again....anyone could bust a plain text "sane" handstyle
Does anyone know if these sorts of security booths were common to asylums? Or did Byberry just have a significant amount of psychopathic patients (and/or paranoid staff personnel)? I think that this is the first such one I've ever seen.

It sad to see how many people have so little respect for these places; the pentagram, in particular, looks like the handiwork of some teen trying to be evil/rebellious/scary. Though it does also make me glad that my local abandoned hospital seems to be very well guarded, by comparison.
Rina, i was thinking the same thing about HOHH
wow.
some kids really need to get lives.
ummm... that would be the scariest thing ever, i think... to be a guard or staff and be "safe" in the big GLASS box while psychopathic patients took over? Could you imagine? Seeing it happen-if it ever did ???
I love the site, all the pictures are amazing.
This one jumped out at me because of the word "SANE". The reason for this is that i believe it may have been my uncle (or one of his friends) that painted that there years ago. When he was younger, he use to do alot of graffiti, and that word he seemed to tag all over the city. He even has it tattooed in that exact text style on his leg. I'll have to show him this picture and see if he remembers if it was him.
Thanks for the awesome pictures, im fasinated with old buildings and id love to visit some of these some day. Jim
He said he had never been there. But he's sure it must have been a friend of his that lived around there.
Lol, i think he was a bit suprised to see it there though.
Did satanist do that or did kids do that for shock value?
thats an awsome pic. Ive never heard of or seen theese "security booths", but i heard that there were false pannels in the back of the closets in the C buildings, that led to the tunnels, and were to be used by staff to escape in the event of a riot. Is that true , or just a rumor?
read the bible skye, 666 is the number of the beast and 999 is the opposite
bet it was just tagged by sum smart ass kids
Considering what I've read about this place, it seems security was a bit on the underused side. Yikes.
