Behind the adminstration building is a maze of raised walkways, many getting very overgrown.

Motts,
out of all these buildings that you got pictures of the outside, are any of these still in use at all?
no. none of them are. there are crazy rumors that police are using the land to train their dogs - but they are just rumors. nothing is in use.
you have to have big balls to walk through here without being scraed
Then I got big balls. What else could I say? LOL
Backy! Find a soap dispenser and wash that mouth out!
There was some leftover soap from scubbing those chairs down

blub, blub, blub, blub, blub...
yes, we (PA army national guard) use one main building activily and have been since six months after it was first abondoned. amandaJ doesnt know what she's talking about, police dogs do train there but only on the weekends at certain times in the year. TRUST ME, i've been doing running PT and some german shepard barks at you through his cage. What's nice though is that when you run you loop around the whole place. You should see how it is in our area of the building. Since we came in right after it closed we continued to use it's things. The showers in our sections still have the original curtains on them (we dont use them) and the soap in the soap dishes is still "penncor" brand (yellow with age of course).
I'm curious anonymous have you ever experienced anything out of the ordinary in Pennhurst?
anonymous, is there like an underground bunker around the area
There is another buliding in use its next to the building in the picture thats coming up. Its used for Veterans
Very few of the buildings (as you can see from the pictures) are usable, but yes, the ANG does use the space to train. Also, it's not like they train exclusively at night. The whole thing is a lot scarier at night. During the day, for the most part, it just looks like an old run-down building.
me n a couple of my friends have walked threw there we've only been there at night n in the winter so it's not as bad to walk threw.but in the buildings there's alot of broken glass and shit like that.we heard some noises n light that looked on in one building by the courtyard n we walked back threw it was gone.there's also n abandoned power plant behind pennhurst that i've been to but the walking was the worst part.lol
Again a very nice shoot. Nicely owergrown passage way
i think part of the reason they used raised walk ways was cause they could double as a wall for a fenced in court yard
i posted on another picture. last year i was almost arrested trying to go and have a look around. i grew up about 6 miles from there. we used to snowmobile threw the areas between buildings in the mid 90's. the place is gaurded by the police and there are some outer buildings probubally newer constructed one being used by some part of the milatery. but i gaurenty there is activity in several buildings there. and around 1 am i have heard some really freaky noises in the courtyard area.
just a follow up, the noises i herd at 1 am was back in the 90,s during our snowmobileing and at that time there was no police or milatery activity. now the entire property is fenced in.
I went for my very first time with my friends and we went into a room that looked like it was for kids my friends are all into ghosts and i didnt belive at all untill that night as we were leaving the place my friend and i where in the back we both turned around amd saw a little girl standing in a door way i ran like hell and ill never go back again and yes now i belive
THATS BULLSHIT MARIA
yu say yu need big balls to walk through these halls, eight of us had the balls and we have pictures of being attacked by the shadow(imp) in the second building on the third floor if anybody wants to see them, and there is music playing now in the second building........
we across that lastnight n it is way overgrown even the road going up to the place is overgrown shit hitting your car n all
haha it looks like there is someone in the window!
thats cool
The reasoning behind the raised walkways are not only for the reasoning of the boxed in courtyard that mikeymisery posted, but directly underneath the raised platforms are where the underground tunnels are located that lead from the basement of almost each building. These tunnels were used by staff and patients to travel between the administration buildings and the housing buildings, and I also have heard that the tunnels were also used to transport the deceased out of the campus in an attempt to keep morale high (mainly because staff didn't want patients to see the dead bodies being wheeled through the outdoor public areas)

Question: What is the last letter of the word "hospital"?
