Must've been frustrating to have to walk ALL THE WAY up to the top, only to be faced with - - - no door!
Kinda looks dangerous when you think about it.. no guard rails to hold on to while going up and down and..... no platform at the top to turn around by....
Agreed about the platform at the top, but one presumes that a therapist would have been on hand to help with the therapy. I imagine they would have "spotted" the patient, holding the patient's hand as the stairs were climbed? (Of course, I guess you can never tell given the other stories I've heard about the neglect at Pennhurst...)
I worked in a State Hospital and was in the Physical Therapy room many times, with regards to balance and safety, railings were present on at least one side, but usually both. Some Railings were removable, and others were bolted to the wall in front and on the side. There is no way a person could have gotten to the top step and turned around on these steps even with help.
"Spotted" the patient???? Are you serious?
yeah...was kinda dissapointed there was no door...
stairway to nowhere, I suppose.
haha looks like a step latter to me... but i guess therapy works
Hmmmm..... a Step Latter, is that a Technical Term for taking your steps later on?
ROFLMBO! Silkster, that was too funny! LoL! I love it! :0)
i'm glad my physical therapy was nothing like that
I don't know, but unless these stairs were bolted to the wall there, I'd suspect they were moveable for access rather than therapy. Maybe a high shelf, or something the nurses or maintainence people needed to reach higher up. They just got left sitting aside in the room. Otherwise, that is an unusual physical therapy stairway.
Maybe there is another part to these steps, like a platform or slide that has gone missing?
There are all sorts of goodies at any type of physical thereapy place. My boyfriend broke his back skiing, and part of his physical rehab was to walk around the room with weights on his feet (to represent ski boots) and carry a two by four (the skis). Crazy, but simple things help tremendosly!
stairway to heaven...or hell...
Definetly.....a.....Steppinnglatter..
These fucking steps lead to fucking nowhere i mean like wtf
Richie, my man,

Do you think it would be possible to send in a post that doesn't include the word "fuck", or is that a mandatory part of every sentence? I make the occasional use of the word myself at times to make a point or for special emphasis, but when it is used in every sentence it actually loses its je ne sais quoi and seems - I don't know - redundant, perhaps?

Lynne, from the Department of Redundancy Department
Lynne writes, " ..loses its je ne sais quoi and seems - I don't know - redundant..". your rich irony, while almost certainly lost on most here, is just too delicious to go unremarked. Now THAT was laugh out loud funny. Thanks for the chuckle.
Guys...LOOK. THERE IS A YELLOW STICKER ON THE SIDE OF THOSE STAIRS??
Oohhh, is it really one of those yellow stickers?? :)P
Lynne : you mad me so LOL......I love how you put that .....love it.....like how I love the 'soap dispenser' comments here too.....wonderful......common sense does not come easy for some does it..........Great pic Motts as always.....the stairway to nowhere.....
Lynne I meant to say you made me LOL.....since I can't edit my comment.....so sorry......
