Well, it did hit zero... An interesting picture... reminds me of that painting with the melting clocks...

I think the needle may have ED!
I would say that gauge pegged one or two hundred times. That kind of pressure in galvanized pipes, must have brought streak of panic a time or two....hundred.
That needle pegged at 340 psig but to be damaged like that it must have been subjected to a minimum of 10% over pressure..ie 380 psig. That would have been a scarey shift for the boilerman.
