Is it just me or does the stain on the back wall there look a little like blood?
Nope, they're gears. Looks like oil and grease to me.
But then it's a black and white picture.........
Lyric's right, i see plenty of oil spray like that where i work,
Great picture.
Back in the day when they made this stuff they made it to last. Big and very heavy, but easy to work on.
love the gear pictures
o god i love this picture
is that blood?
Of course it is
Amazing machinery, but no way in hell would I work on it unless I removed the breaker and put a false one in. Otherwise some idiot would replace the breaker and reset it at just the wrong moment and those gears would continue to churn with one of my limbs in it. Maybe I am a little paranoid, but incidents like those happen all too often.
@ Modmadmike - that is the exact reason for modern "lockout/tagout". Some idiot comes by and goes "hey, why isn't X running?" or "hey, who turned that off?". Honest mistakes, but tell that to the wife of the guy who had to be washed off the machine and buried in a plastic bag.

And THEN you have the real prizes who will look at a tag labelled "do not use!" (or similar) and flip the breaker anyway! They are the reason for the "lockout" part of the equation.

Question: What is the last letter of the word "hospital"?
