Wall Fan

This Hunter fan probably dates to the 60's.

I swear there was a fan just like this (only one that's smaller) in my therapist's office today...
60', maybe even the late 50s, who knows? It's in pretty good shape.
Actually, this one could be even older. Look at the cord. Looks like one of those thick, round, cloth-covered cords. They stopped using those in the early '50s.
the cord is more than likely a rubber grounded cord. Notice the brassy hunter badge, fans with those badges were made by Robbins & Myers between sometime in the mid 60s and 1984. also notice the cage on the fan, fans in the 50s would not have had a modern, safe cage like that one. Most fan companies started using safer cages in the mid 60s.
that fan is nice i would take it home with me not let it sit there rot away.
That's exactly what I do with fans. I take them home and fix them up. I put them back into working order and use them regularly.
oh ya i love takeing home fans that are in old nut houses who knowes what thos crazys did to that thing over the years
To man-o-scince,

The current term is "psychiatric facility" and the people who stay there are "people with psychiatric illnesses" or "psychiatric disabilities". Those other terms went out of use many years ago and can be painful to hear if you or a family member are affected.
Lynne you are so so so Right. Me too.
Probably stiil good.

When I was little my dad would bring fans home from the trash after night work.
We'd plug them in and they usually worked.
These were the kind from the late 40's and 50's.The kind you see in old movies.
Boy,if I just had one of them
A collector's piece, if ever I saw one....Bet it'd still work, too.

I thought Hunter was a fan company??? Can you tell it's been a long day in the ortho floor?
Ha, Rob! I was thinking that!
Looks like it'd work....new cord, a little oil.....
This fan is from the 50's or 60's. It is similar accept for the cage to mine. The manufacturing information on mine says Hunter product of Robbins & Meyers. Hunter didn't acquire Robbins & Myers until 1949. If yours has both manufactures names...it would date it the 1949 or newer...
Nice fan!
I would actually say newer, because the cage has safety features. Wires closer together, the older styles were finger losing dangerous! With the cage that is on your fan it probably had to meet some safety standards...
I'm hot! Let's turn it on!!!
