I am probably wrong, but I think I remember somewhere people referring to medical lecture halls as "theatres."

Looks more like a school room to me. You could see where the blackboard was.

Soooo, why did they call it a threatre? They possibly viewed medical films in here. Maybe the blackboard had a 'shade' that also served as a movie screen.

Our local hospital has one of those rooms for doctors to meet, nurses to catch up on their hours, etc. They call it a theater.

This is a lecture hall. The blank space at the front is where the blackboard would go. I spent many an hour in rooms just like these, of course in those halls not every square inch was occupied by a desk. They've obviously shoved every seat they could find in here, either that or they had the habit of catapulting students to their desks.

This reminds me of having to watch stupid movies in high school, all crammed up in a little desk, stuck sitting on a hard, uncomfortable chair for at least 70 minutes with no break.

Heidianne, it may have been a teaching hospital where new docs and nurses learn on the job so to speak.

Lord knows I've attended (read:slept through) many a histology and microbiology lecture in a very similar lecture hall... I'd almost guarantee that is what we are looking at.
