reminds me of the movie the lasy house on the left
That's not right Motts that was a horrible movie :P
Ah it's a movie... the phrase was so familiar. I've never seen it, so I can't be blamed too much ;)
Yes it was a movie from 1972. IIt's one of Wes Craven's earlier works. I suggest checking it out if you have the stomach and sanity for it. It's actually about some escaped prisoners...I won't say anything else.
It's a shame about these houses. It's quite clear from the outside that there is severe water infiltration (The calcium deposits on the brick).
Wow I guess I forgot to highlight this one, I just realized there's graffiti on the house. What a shame.
Last house on the left, that was the last movie i watched at a drive in.
That's not calcium, that is blown snow...
this is kings park.
no its pilgrim state
I spent 10 weeks at pilgram.I was able to walk during heath walks i use to look at the buildings.Yhe train station and cemetary.
Looks a little like the house my best friend used to live in when we were teens - but I don't remember the side porch. Still, pretty close. They were nice houses in a nice setting.
Mr. Motts, Frank & anyone who has or knows anyone who has actual expeience of Pilgrim pleae email me. I am writting a paper for school and also have persaonl interest (my has mental illness and had several yr stay in places like this) it would be very appreciated and helpful to me thank you. hopefull_destiny@yahoo.com
You people are very strange....
This house is strangely identical to the director's house at KPPC. Since the buildings at PS are more ornate, as are the other mansions, this one sticks out like a sore thumb. Are you sure it's Pilgrim?
re KP from kp: I am sure. I lived on the staff circle from 1943 - 1967. There are pics of Kings Park director's house on another site.
Bub, please share some of your experiences with us. What were some of the biggest changes you saw in your 24 years of living there? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is interested, especially because those were the years that saw both the worst overcrowding and the advent of deinstitutionalization.
The Drs. lived free, never paid for electric etc.
This is my grandmothers old house - she was the chief of medicine and surgery at PSH for something like 30 years. I spent a lot of time in this house from the late 70's to mid 80's. My Dad lived in the house during the summers during the 80's. They were nice, but "mansion" is not the word I would use to describe it. I never liked it in there.

I just went there 2 days ago (11/19/2009), and managed to get into the basement - my Dad pried off the board covering the outdoor basement stairs the last time he was there (he grew up in the house). It's in bad shape. I don't reccomend going in there - asbestos and crumbling buildings don't mix.
