i agree... there has been many times that i haved pass by but never got to see the actual houses and "mansions" that are still standing where they are. Motts this is truely great photography work and hope to see futher pics on this site.... I went inside the main building by using Crooked Hill Rd. lots of stuff.... i heard a scream.... not sure what it was... it was in the shower area i think.
Did the doctors and staff have free room and board? Does any body know? Just curious
not sure about this location but at danvers i understand that the doctors had free room and board.
I COULD TOTALLY LIVE HERE!!
WONDER WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER? AND THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE HOMES SO WHY ARE THEY EMPTY?
It's funny to look at this site because I have a picture of this building in my dining room from the 90's, before it was all boarded up.

My Grandfather was the engineer at Pilgrim State. My dad lived in one of these houses when he was younger and helped cook for the patients. Some of the patients would come and help my grandma around the house.

So most people are thinking, "This place is creepy as hell."

I'm thinking, "Oh wow. My dad lived there."

Small world.
Beautiful Photos, the doctors did pay rent when they lived in the houses.
These are lovely. I think it's the snow that is making things look so different.
i cant believe these pics are only 4 yrs old...i was just in pilgrim nd these house look like hell now...

I had a childhood friend whose father was a surgeon at Pilgrim State and I spent many a day roaming the grounds of the hospital in the mid to late sixties. I believe the big mansion you see in these pictures was the residence of the head surgeon (no pun intended) and one the other residences, which were quite nice was where my friends family lived.

Nice photographs,
Chris
The inside of the houses looked like they melted, but no signs of fire (weird) houses no longer there. :(
