Elevator Detector Annunciator

Elevator Detector Annunciator

I'm not sure what an elevator detector annunciator is, but it's colorful!

An elevator annunciator is a device that displays an elevator's position at any time, usually installed for fire fighting purposes.

The juxtaposition of red and blue here makes a very interesting shot!
The colors and composition are awsome. Looks like a Mondrian paining on crack.
bobbo used to think this was his magic box because of how the red light used to capture his imaginiation, kind of funny how my mind has a picture of him being sent to "the fourth brick"
This would make a great oil painting! This place is so artistic!
Absolutely, this would make a great oil painting, some of these pictures, especially the window ones, and the more colorful, would make great transparancies too.
your all out of your damn minds my god what the fuck is wrong with you this is not art i go to this place to kill crack heads and get scared shitless at night
Adam, you are supposed to be looking at the photos here. This is an ARTISTIC web site. Regardless of where or of what they are taken, the photo itself is art. I don't think that attacking the others here is a very valid way of getting your own opinion across. It just comes across as crude, unimpressive, and childish behavior.
Very well said reddll
Art or no art it's a cool pic & a grate web site..
Wasn't this a medical/surgical building for soldiers? Why is mike1968 talking like it was part of the asylum?
It was for veterans with psychiatric illnesses, and was part of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center complex.
I love the colors here, very fresh, bright, and Santa Fe-ish.
both adam, and mike and his four months in '68, are kinda getting on my nerves with their unconstructive critizism.
Ditto what Autumn said. =(
"Beauty" does not mean "perfection." For me, the beauty is in the creativity of the people who invented elevators and safety devices, the pride and skill of the workmen who installed them with their own hands, the inspectors who made sure they worked correctly, the people who used them every day to get from one floor to another, the abilities of those who painted the walls and swept the floors to make others' lives easier, and how all of those souls can be remembered by looking at a picture. I would feel like less of a person if all I saw when I looked at this was some rust and peeling paint. Oh, and even "crackheads" are people too, and deserve compassion. "With God as our Father, brothers all are we." "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto Me."
I meant to add that beauty is also in those who go out of their way to take these pictures, preserving our past, and are generous enough to share their work with us.
