This connection looked like an industrial icon of worship.

Yeah, Motts, you really called this shot. A long dead and forgotten god from another life plane. You could easily imagine this thing come stumbling toward you, wheels slowly turning and joints creaking. Brrrrr!
I have to say, that's pretty goddamn cool.
This could be a distant relative of Robbie the Robot from the 1950s movie Forbidden Planet.
Could this be an old automatic steam valve of some type? To open and close the steam flow?
Valtiel would fit in perfictly here.
Oh ya, Joecat I agree completely.
Thats Maximillion from the "Black Hole"

(good thing I was here.. lols)
Make an offering to the Valve God and your plumbing will never bad.
I was mistaken
Crucified!
Rust never looked so good!
an Alien King frozen in the power grid waiting to be reborn .......
So steam punk....love it.
Pump, pump, where ever you may pump, I am the lord of the valves said he.
Either that or WALL·E's evil twin.
This is fantastic. The title is great. That is exactly what I was thinking when I first opened this picture.
Looks like a bit of asbestos insulation drooping down there. With all the hazards involved I gotta wonder if you guys wear any safety gear when you go into locations such as this. I'd personally want a hard hat, gloves and a respirator of some kind with all the peeling (presumably lead) paint, jagged rust and deteriorating insulation around.
