we where there last night!!!!!!
I think anybody is crazy for exploring these places at night!!
What about the people who work on the grounds, I did, and it's not scary after awhile.
Well it is a pretty ominous structure. I can't imagine these buildings help cheer up the patients who live there and see them every day.
my mom and dad both worked here once many years ago
my grandmother worked here many, many years ago. i remember going there as a little girl with her when she picked up her paycheck--i'm 51 yrs. old now, i was about 4 back then. sure was a spooky place !
WE WERE THERE LAST NIGHT TOO! and almost got arrested but thats not important
the place seems to be so scary. just think about it's history! how many people died, how many suffered, how many tried to help them?!. it does have something unexplainably attractive but at the same time it's so cold and... dead.
after a while you get use to the weird noises and thinking that there is a person behind you every second... im a nurse and at first it freaked me out to be there but not so much anymore
So - is this place really haunted?? I drive through there sometimes at night, and it definately is the scariest place around here!!! Has anyone ever witnessed anything creepy?
i remember i was at watch at night and i heard the sound of a moving chair from one of the study rooms where i had been previously. when i went to see...the corner chair that was there was moved. i got goosebumps. i never forget that. and yes it is really hunted i was there many nights and heard and saw many different things. people told me about it before and i was skeptical but hm oh yeah i sure believe it now.
i used to sleep on one of the rooms in the first floor and right under that (the basement) was the morgue and i used to not sleep very well. and yes there where sounds coming from down there, not only i heard it.
people actually stay up at watch in the abandond building? if so why? and do cops pass through alot? cuz i wanna go, im not scared of creepy stuff im scared of cops
wow ... that is one huge building ... all of a sudden i want to go there!
I was in there the other night...looked in a room saw a dried up puddle of blood, with a wet fresh pool of blood on top of it .
I went their with some friends and walked all around the first floor but i didnt see anything freaky except for the cops waiting for me at the front door. According to the officer who arrested us, they constantly bag kids for trespassing. He also told us that he made this kid piss himself because he patrols the building sometimes without a flash light. Probably bull.
i was there tonight but it seems they knocked alot of the buildings down.. do you know where there are buildings that are still up and that i can get into to walk around......????
I just love these panorama shots
omg...this is amazing my aunt dusnt live 2 far from there u can kinda see the top from her house.....its awsome!
i've been there a couple times at night and got some pretty cool footage. it's pretty creepy.
A lesson in black and white.
This is the building I first started working in back in 1970. The secretarial pool was on the first floor, to the right of the doorway as you are looking at the picture now. The 4 windows just to the right of the tree there was our office. My introduction to mental illness. I really got an education about the illness working here. I was never afraid of working here with the patients around.
me and my friends went in side like 100 times i know the place like the back of my hand there is a tunnel that connects that buliding to the main hospital
i use 2 b a patient in that building
Woah thats awesome you can see the top outline of the much bigger active building behind it. Just about perfectly symmetrical. Good Job!
YoOoOo I Finally went there last night and i recorded like 30 minutes of it and dat wuz crazy son cuz we didnt even stay 4 long because i heard a little grl scream and all my friends said it wuz a bat but i know wat i heard and after reading some storys on here i REALLY know wat i heard
ok how do I get access? art_attack3@yahoo.com

IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK. REMEMBER MENTAL ILLNESS IS THE CRUELIST DISEASE THERE IS. PEOPLE DIDNT UNDERSTAND IT AND TRAETED THESE PEOPLE HORRIBLY. AND NOW 100S OF YEARS LATER. PATAKI IS KILLING THEM ALL OVER AGAIN.
LISA,
What does pataki mean?
I'd be interested to know.
LISA,
Is that a person?
Pataki is leader of small tribe of people called "Noo Yorr Kurrs." Very savage tribe. Live in tall stone buildings near ocean. Rarely smile or make eye contact. Watch your wallet and small children if you have need to go out that way. Few have returned to tell the tales, but the tales those few do tell would make a brave man shiver . . . . =8-o
Shawn, Pataki is the Governor of New York.
So everyone has to ruin Lynne's fun today, huh? >:-P
Sorry, Lynne I didn't think you would get to him first!! I would NEVER try to ruin your fun!!
Nonono, you all have it wrong! Pataki is a disease of the buttocks! Like Lisa said, it's killing people off, mainly from exhaustion (they can't sit down!)....
can some one tell me exzactly where the building is because i know what exit it is i just dont know where the building is exzactly and i want to go cause my friends are chickens so if any one can give me directions how to get to the building thats all i need because getting in it should be easy enough sned directions to spotteditalian222@hotmail.com and if any 1 wants to go with me just tell me and we can met up and go have some fun
matt- who has been there like a 100 times, can you please contact me or anyone elso who has actually been there. emcee0520@yahoo.com Please, please please contact me!
all ya people are just crazy 4 going in their!!!!!!!!!
I live right there in dix hills you can see these buildings from my home. WE go ATVing in there all the time at night. Its mad scary but still so cool and the state police are there now and they ride on raptors (A kind of atv) they open fire on your quad on my friends quad one opened fire on his tires and they got him fined him 5000 ditruction of property just for ripping up a lil grass tresspassing. But still the view at night when your right there holly crap. I deliver pies there during the day for lucarellies not the same as being there at nihgt but still scary as all hell.
I spent 10 weeks on the grounds.I was in this building to pick up meds.Visited the cementary. There are tunnels connecting the buildings. They were sealed i used to look into them from the window in the basement.I think the place is great always wished they would put the buildings to good use.I never seen any ghosts there.Always slept good.
why do you go to these places and take pictures ?Does it scare you at all?
Because I think they are beautiful, and no I don't get scared of these places.
I just visited this place. There are cops who patrol it but you can walk around outside of it fairly easily. This place is beyond creepy though. Has anyone seen the wild dogs that live there?
very nice, i have been around that area and you make it look rather peaceful.
I might think of buying this place, and fixing it up for my kids. im not scarde of ghost cause i dont belive in them. if they did ex-sest, i'll just tell them to leave in the name of God. this place could be nice mansion if it holds in tack long enough for some one to repair it.
I grew up near this hospital. I spent observing this site from Commack Road when I was young. I recently met a nurse that worked in this hospital many years ago and she told me that all the scary stories that we heard as youngsters were all true.
Wow, your pictures are chilling and haunting. The corridors and rooms are reminiscent of the old CI Psych Center buildings me and my friends used to wander through when we were kids. Exceptional photos, brought back some old memories.
the tunnels run al the way to comack rd where the edgewater building stood before demolition.lots of bodies turned up in the tunnels after the edgewood building closed so they tore it down and sealed the tunnels, the tunnels were well known dumping grounds for murders commited by
local gangsters and drug dealers.be careful at night there are a lot of squaters and homeless in the empty buildings seeking shelter and the grounds still turn up an occasional homicide or two per month.
they tore down a lot of buildings since i worked there.
These pictures are great. My Dad worked there for over 10 years in the 70's. I even learned how to drive on the grounds in the cemetary. Beautiful buildings in their prime....
I am going there today. I hope I don't end up a statistic.
Superman42, youre crazy if you wanna buy it... and god isnt real, just so you know
Wow. I would never have guessed that the wards looked like they do. This building never gets old for me. It's stunning.
fuck that they still got the files in the morgue of dead people and how they died, my friend took the tunnel to the morgue and had files in her hands when cops arrested her. Im just afraid of those morgue doors... just like KPPC the biggest building third to top window all the way to your left side is always totally black compared to ever other window.
15,000 people had to have somewhere to go. This place is huge.
I work here as a recreation therapist for the past 3 months,, so far nothing too haunted looking or sounding in the active wards that are being used. Cool place to work b/c of it's amazing hsitoric value.
went here today for photo class. broad daylight no one said anything to us. truly amazing. the only difference is now it so easy to get inside ..........the doors are litteraly riped off there hinges just welcoming you in!
Man they just dont build em like that any more, do they? Very ominous looking place, like you said Motts.
i was there last night...really creepy...i was too scared to go inside tho..its strange tho because people keep talking about almost getting caught by security..but there was absolutly no security when i went..maybe bc it was 3 in the morning when we got there.
i have a question tho..has anything...supernatural..ever happened to anyone while they were visiting here..bc idk if it was our mind playing tricks on us but we deffinatly kept seeing faces in the windows and stuff...
we used to go there when we were kids wed go through the tunnels with torches underground so the cops wouldnt see us from the rail track side then wed end up in the main building wed climb flights to the roof then with beers in hand hang out on the very top and get soused --microdon---greenie---roche----those were the days
i went there the other night and too alot of pictures .. i go there once in a whole and it was only scary at night . one of the doors i went in was scary . there was a random picture of mickymouse on the wall and the other time i went at night there were random homeless people living int here and told me and my friedns to leave there home

when u go around to the other door in the back its not scary at all there iss random chairs there and wagons inside i scared the shit out of myself and ran out but it just looks like a construction sight ,, jsut be carefull of the secruirty
I work at Pilgrim. There's no ghosts or gools, and more than half the stories that people tell you are just for kicks. My mother has worked there for 30 years and at Kings Park before it closed down. That may have seemed to appear scary to the eye because goth and emo junkies want to believe this and actually sleep in these filthy abandoned places places while trippin out and blazin up."GOT...LIFE"?The only scary thing about Pilgrim State Hospital is those god damn wild dogs that live in packs that have been feeding off the innocent barn animals every F#$%ING month.Yes a barn for patient therapy. Now these dogs will be shot on site thanks to a cheap state budget, and a bunch of fed up rec council taking the law into their own hands.
The building that youre in and the one ur facing are the only abandoned ones. Have u ever noticed that clock tower thing in the middle of one of the fields? Its weird...
me an my friends went there. an yea they did take down a lot some one said they were gonna make
hotels or some thing like that.
me and my friends went by the train part an then by the big water tower the door didnt open. an yea there is a lot of cops an a lot of people just passing there its pretty crazy at night i love that my school is like right by it so after school we just can walk there an look at shit inside.
This brings back memories. We broke into the main building before it was torn down in the summer of 1974. We got chased by security, took off in the woods, walked along train tracks and ended up at the coal burning power plant. The guard there made us walk through the still occupied insane asylum until we got to the gate that leads out to Comack Road. What a day that was, I will remember it until I die!
Wow, after seeing this for real when I was a kid, it's kind of surreal seeing it in photos 35 years later. That's exactly how it was then. Dark and gloomy, cloud coverd day. The echos in those corridors were so eerie! We were 14 years old, running through the halls, turning stuff over and breaking windows.
Hard to believe i only live 5 minutes away great places for taking pictures
My great grandma worked there as a nurse. Nothing ever happened, just chinese whispers in regards to all the stories. Then i found out, she was hiding the truth so we wouldnt go there. Supposibly only 2 people that went in became a patient. They wereordinary people loving life. They say it was all in the mind. Another true fact: A young chick killed herself with her own bed sheets, this is probably a coincedance but in a past msg, someone heard a girl scream.. Who knows.. many more stories. Unfortunetly my g/ grandma past away but she had fear in her eyes everytime we mentioned the place...
My grandfather died in the hospital .
unreal !!!!!!!! very spooky ! what is a main road you can see the buildings from???
I went there last week and too be honest too say i couldnt go in it was way to scary and i was over pressured alot of people I know that went say that they see shadows going up the stairs and patients who have passed looking out the window ... Its something Im deff into right now and I wanna know more about ...
crazzzyyyy peopleee. lmfao no this is awesome. these buildings are amazing. whatever went into building them all for clinically insane people. its all just unbelievable now theyre just going to get rid of them? even if kids do trespass or whatever in some way i see that as disrespectful for them just to knock them all down. and im not really sureif i believe in ghosts or not but i really hope then when and if they do knock these buildings and the buildings in kings park down and build stupid shit like hotels and condos that ghosts haunt the grounds... yes like in the movies.
was there told the cop that we were coming from the factories behind lol
This is a lovely moving gallery, with the panorama as the "grand finale" Thoroughly enjoyed! All this hard work, and sometimes danger for you, and you share generously; am ever so grateful. Thank you! Yer the bestest! Be well and stay safe!
