I work 500 Feet away from this bldg. Just thought id say that:)
Heh, cool. What's back there, postal services?

Let us know when demoliton begins! 8]
Oh yea, another great place to go.
The smoke stacks made us curious as for what was behind them, a whole city that was and still is engrained in many, who grew up in the surrounding towns. Take the ten speed and a flashlight with trusted friends and let your mind wonder. 1986/89 edgewood was another. Oh the memories of childhood, THANK YOU for your website and desire. A Good person indeed.
NEVER WOULD LIKE TO GO THERE

I remember riding up the Sagtikos Pkwy as a kid in the early-mid 90s and seeing these enormous stacks.
Is that your xj on the left hand side?
Photographic faux pas motts!...should've moved your car...haaha this is like a petty human telling god how to do his job heehee : )
Whatever are you talking about - "car"?

http://members.aol.com...2495/0000001523a.jpg
The vehicle headed for Pittsburgh to pick up the derbies.
T'anks be te God fer that!
Yep, it's getting too cold for them, and they'll soon be homeless....so, they must be rescued!
Lynne, Twug I was at Dixmont today and yes the derbies are very cold. Hell some of them even had snow on them. I got Lynne coffee can full for her office.
Thanks Truckie. Hope you had a good dinner! Keep warm up there in the cold.
hehe very ingenious Lynne...well..not really....but good job
: )
Thanks Twug I hope you had a good dinner also, and the rest of the folks here.
Good man that you are, Truckie!
Nice editing Lynne!

That isn't my car, some dudes pulled in to play paintball back there when I was taking these shots.
why did you call it power plant pranormal
I didn't, I called it "Power Plant Panorama", because it's a panorama photo of a power plant.

http://www.answers.com/panorama
But "Power Plant Paranormal" is pretty damned funny. 8`-)
I also work very close to this building. In fact, I drive past this building on the road just to the right of this photo every day. It's a major thoroughfare for our company. I find myself in awe and mild fear each and every time I drive past.

Your photographs are truly incredible!
this building is neat I love the architecture and the layout, it has this mojo, of " yeah I was a power plant and what are you gonna do about it!" it just has a very manly feel to it, sorry I am rambling :-)
Motts. is that a walkway that seems to span the entire front of the building? it almost looks like tracks for a train????
Yes, it was an elevated railroad spur where the coal cars would dump their payload to be conveyored up to the top of the power plant.
This is one of the coolest and creepiest places I'd ever considering taking a liesurly stroll thru. Thx and happy hauntings!
The powerhouse was also the firehouse I rember PSH FD had a 1958est. Mack pumper
i worked at the power house, approx 1969-1970 20-21 yr old, i ran the large cat, payloader that scooped the coal up under the tresel and dumpted it onto the conveyer belt to the hopper on the roof. am 57 yr old now, nice to see these old photos, any questions about pilgrim, banjoman153@sbcglobal.net
I used to pass by that building at night, loved the short cut
Neat old power plant.
I just checked the place out. Apparently the state cops actively patrol the entire premises, which I found out the hard way. Still, I walked away with some coal and almost got a fire brick.
what ever happend to the smoke stacks ???
I believe they were removed due to instability concerns.
CAN YOU GAIN ACCESS TO TO THE PROPERTY OR BUILDINGS TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS??? DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS SECURITY THERE???
huh i dont know why they just dident keep them KPPC CIPC and edgewood keeped theres after they closed
Probably because the stacks at those facilities were stable...
thanks Motts, you dont see nearly enough of this on tv. I live in flat old kansas nothin exists like that here

First time I visited this site it gave me chills, its a beautiful structure.
Are you going to any more places in southwest PA? I live 30 miles from Pittsburgh and could do some research for you as to some more places in that area. I know one right off the top of my head: Livermore, a famous local legend. Get back to me if you want. My email is arose_is4ever@hotmail.com
I up driving and took a wrong turn ( or two) and founf myself here in front of this powerplant. I had no idea what it was but it did give of a scary vibe. I was with my two sisters and we actually parked right in front and got a closer look and I didnt see one cop. We were way to scared to go inside though, we took one step into the doorway and there was deep rumbling noises and sounde like metal clashing together. it was wierd
i was there 2day my dad drove me and my cousin by all the buildings it was fun but scary cuz it was dark lol
the smoke stacks was made of bricks or metal?
