this was the first building i visited on my first trip to byberry. I walked in and met a group of explorers and hung out with them all day. If I hadnt met them, I wouldnt have seen 1/10th of what I got to see! Great Pic!
this is the first building for me i rember looking up at the 3 windows n the 2 on the sides were boarded up n the on in the middle was open n me n my friends thought how cool that looked
Urgh.... how deppressing and bleak this building is
I did part of my internship there back in 1980, when the place was still open. I can remember how dark and depressing is was back then. I still go past the place every now and then. I cab still remember the screams.
I used to hang out on the other side of Rt. 1 man did we party on the old side! I do not see any pix from there. There was a long padded table in a rroom that looked like shock therapy treatment!!Plus padded cells......... In thetunnels there was also 1 bricked off that looks like it might connect to the one in your pix from new side
i used to hang out at night in 1994 ive been all through at night great place to party
Looks like walking up to fort knox!
Hey Motts, did you use some sort of filter, or is this a natural color. It looks creepy, haunting, and beautiful at the same time. I was able to create the same effect in some of my drawings.
This was shot in infrared on a Sony F-707, which is actually an apple green color straight out of the camera. I moved the hue over a bit to the yellow color because I liked the "old paper" effect it had :)
That is just awesome man!
great shot of W-7
I was there in the B1 basement im not sure what building it was because i went in 2003 at 9pm at night after watching the guards get offf shift well all i know is that there is records down there because there is a caffatieria and i heard kids but never found them
now the city really need to be ashamed of them selves leaving that property like that. If an resident tryed to leave there property like that people would have htem put out or the owner would be fined.
I would like to comment to someone that is "slightly" getting on my nerves. I have not heard ONE positive thing come out of Amother's mouth since she's posted. I know you are free to comment how you feel, but excuse me for saying this; you can be down-right nasty! Thank the Lord we are all gifted with different personalities because , heaven help us if everyone felt like you!
I spent a ton of time at byberry back in 1991/1992 - I actually still have a straight jacket that we took... there was so much cool stuff all over the place. it's amazing to see how much it has changed... it's totally destroyed now, quite sad. Is there a map of the buildings anywhere so I can refresh my memory?
this is the most ripped-off picture of byberry lately, i see everyone using this, from ebay auctions to paranormal investigations. i remember coming back in and seeing mark with a big, fat, rusty nail in his shoe. good times.
Hah, I was amazed that nail didn't go through Mark's foot... that was a fun day.
Trying to find grandmother Rebecca Epstein who was in Byberry when she died from a fall down steps. Our family would like her records. Louis & Ann Epstein. ( nepstein2cfl.rr.com )
Where would the old records be kept, I wonder?
it suck now it all most gone all the god time we had in there iam goin g to miss u byberry.and u will never be forgoten
looking for records of my grandmothers stay in the 1930's; anybody have any ideas where they might be? email me please at limmie44@yahoo.com thank you and thank God the place is closed. The bright side to the story of Byberry is what??????
Always have loved this shot.
I hung out in this place from 1982-1985. I went to Robert Frost jr High. We used to get in through the Morgue and make our way to the water tanks at the top. We even followed the tunnels all the wat to the power plant.

Any one else out there know about all of this?
More like a factory building.
Do you think this place is haunted??? I think Jason and Grant should go check it out!!!!!!!
I was there back in 1997 and I think it has got to be one of the freakiest places I have ever been too, my boyfriend was a security guard and it really freaked me out!!!!!!!!!!!!
This looks exactly like John Marshall High school here in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio....it's uncanny!
I am 60 minutes from Byberry.
ABANDON HOPE ALL YE WHO ENTER HERE.
I worked with the company that did the demo here. It's creepy, even at 0800.
I love this picture...The dark, sad color seems to fit the building well
imagine how those poor people felt when they were taken there. they must have just wanted to go back home....and a lot of those people were either abused, neglected, and some of them even died. it's sad to think about that.
A lot of great years, a lot of great memories, a lot of tears shed in its wake. This pic is excellent.
One of the best pictures of Byberry
One of scariest places I ever stood in front of I always wanted to go inside with a team of people I know It has a Silent Hill setting about it I see it every day as I go to work At CCP......on Townsend and McNulty Rds......... FAREWELL TO A SCARY LANDMARK.......
The place was scary when it was open As I stand in front of now It poses a much Demented look Amityville has nothing on this place A awsome setting Resident Evil or Silent Hill.......
All the pics of this place were great It took guts to take pics of this place I would have love to been there.........
