Nurses Station

Nurses Station

The windows in back are where the nurses would look out on the rows of beds.

this reminds me of that movie one that flew over the cuckoos nest by the way did anyone see the cheif around here?
no chief, but there were a coupple of wild indians
This is where the nurses on our unit would lock themselves in at night, except they watched out the big windows in the front. Leaving the aides to deal with the patients. In the morning, they'd come out and turn on the lights; and go downstairs to pour meds before breakfast.
gotta love those damn nurses
CJ,
I've read your all your comments. Fascinating. Would love to read more about your experiences at Byberry.
It's time for your medication Mr. Brown.......
Motts,
in the 4th window frame (from the left)..... is that your reflection or is someone sitting there?
i was in the morgea ,the auditorium and about three other buildings last night and it aint that scary but there are ghosts in the auditorium ...
you can tell by keeping quite with no lights.....
i highly recamend that ppl check the place out
Ghosts?
The closest thing to a ghost I've ever encountered was an *almost* silent beer fart from one of my drunken buddies. I've seen twelve year old kids in the auditorium swinging on ropes over the stage area and throwing flaming rags at each other. I think your imagination is tickling your anus.
Radical Ed,
Tickling with Icy Cold Fingers? lol
i been there n i didn't see anything but if youre there, u can feel something that gives u the icy chills down ur neck. i was too scared to go certain places, u do hear things too.
i worked there late 70's patients often like zombies..but saw alot of very violent behavior....psych sessions frequently not relavant to patients confined conditions
use to play freedom there it always felt like some one was watchn u in early 90s
It still does, until your friend tears a fire bell off the wall and throws it down a long echoey hallway!
Then you figure whoever was watching you is leaving the scene very abruptly, as the guy that threw it is seven feet tall.
Long live Lanky!
I believe that this may be the hospital that i squatted in for a few months a few years back, is this the hospital off of south street and if it is has there been any changes (i.e. official development) in the past 4 years?
okay, it is not the same hospital--but does any one know of the one i am talking about? it is by a beer distributer and i think it was a veterans psych ward that was closed down some time in the 70's
Nope, this one's on the borders of a suburb and nowhere near South Street or central Philadelphia.
Listen to Radical Ed. If it was near a beer distributor, he would know.
It's across the street from Suds Beer Takeout, actually...
HA!
thats pennhurst in spring city, pa thats by the beer place
Maybe, but Byberry is across the street from the take-out beer store that's right in front of my apartment complex, a short three minute walk away.
So I bet the ghosts of beers long drunk are there, huh?
Great, now I'm gonna be in shock for the rest of the day by that friggin reflection!
Just scanning through somewhat and reading somewhat. CJ if you are still around, i read what you wrote about this nurse station and it sent tingles of memory through me. I know how you felt looking through that window at night.. watching the nurses do change over and thinking "they can just walk out of here, go home to thier familiar things.. and human contact." I used to cry myself to sleep in places like that. I dont know if this are the same over there as it is here.. im a 21 year old female in australia.
Try being in a mental hospital, to this day the nurses station is the same. Although have you ever been to byberry?? ( for everyone whom didn't make this site) Check it out sometime.
Looks like people are SITTING in there! Check out the 2nd, 3rd and possibly 4th wondow panes!!! Creepy!
NURSE RATCHETT!! I WANT MY GIGARETTES!!
hi. this is my first comment here. first of all, i love all the colours and the composition of this shot. all of the pictures i've seen on this site are just beautiful.
secondly, any "cold chills running down the spine" that anyone feels in a place like this are probably just their own fears, stemming from the stigma and urban legends of this sort of place. it's funny and cool how emotions sometimes manifest themselves into physical feelings. there could be ghosts or spirits here, but i don't think they would actually interfere with living humans coming into the place, or even be aware of live people there.
if only there was a picture of a swimming pool in one of the galleries from this hospital. that's the part i remember most from "... cuckoos nest"
The evil Nurse Mildred Ratched from "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" works everywhere.

Kill all the evil male and female Nurse Mildred Ratched bitches !!!
