Theater

Theater

The theater and the rooms above were badly deteriorated... this recreation wing was probably closed down way before the other sections, which is quite saddening.

This is very sad to me.....the patients probably didn't get much entertainment as it was....wish I could see this room for myself. I love old theaters .
I wouldn't want to be the director of a production of, oh, say Antigone showing to a theater full of patients that had to be restrained...
Is it just me or do there appear to be heads in the seats? Either way....fantastic pictures - great job!!
"I wonder how long this institution held back recreational activites from their patients" I couldn't help thinking, until they went crazy! It's kind of how we are like with computers, you get withdraws!
imagine they wouldnt let patients in the shows doors right behind the stage ....quick exit??
wonder if the doctors used this to show presentations to other doctors in the field
It's sad, but recreation was probably an easy budget item to cut. People are people, but money is money. Thank goodness we've never been wards of the state.
"Eldritch rooms beheld many hosts,
They now harbour restless ghosts. "
LIKE A SCENE FROM ESCAPE FROM N.Y.
wow! this shot is amazing! pretty surreal too.
how hot i gotta sit in a chair..
Another sad story of waste.
Makes you wonder. Was the patient's allowed to watch movies?
When I was younger my mother took me to several abandoned opera houses in various towns. The things often were in worse shape than this. One of the coolest things I remember about doing that though was going up on stage and singing aria's from various operas and filling the halls with music after they had sat silent for (in some cases) over half a century.
Looks like there's a movie playing... how weird...
OMG!!
that is so super scary
wow! there's alot that can be said about this pic! so many questions to be answered...!
I bet this place was a real sight to see in it's original beauty. So sad that the patients didn't get the right to have some sort of recreation. It probably didn't help their illnesses. :o(
Motts you can realy capture my attention with your amazing theatre shots, they are my favorite ones, theres just something about all those empty seats staring at the rotting stage that brings the photo alive. And to think that once people were being entertained in this very room and the seats were once full is a realy amazing thought. I have always had a funny obssesion with abandoned places and have finnaly found a site that has so much to offer with (I might add) FUCKEN AWESOME, MIND BLOWING, SPINE CHILLING, KNUCKLE CRACKING, THOUGHT WANDERING, EMOTION GRASPING, JAW DROPING, TROPHY WINNING, UNBEATABLE, PHOTOGRAPHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Motts you are the KING!!!!!
Oh, what a shame. This must have been wonderful. I wish it were in better shape. But as it is, it makes an amazing picture. You do pick the shots.
End of the show......end of an era. Your theater shots are some of the greatest!
I wonder what kind of things they watched
What a shame to see this building in this condition it should be renovated if its still fixble.
Now THAT'S what I call rockn' the house down!
This would be a great place to perform, "One Flew Over The Cukoo's Nest".
