Ward Hall

Ward Hall

The top floor wards were inhabited by pigeons living in the attic space. The lack of ceilings has made the floors thick with droppings.

they way you photographed this hallway reminds me of a sinking ship - great shot!
So the lack of ceilings was part of the asbestos abatement, as far as you can tell, or was it some kind of fire in the attic (hence the blackened color)?
I would assume it was removed in abatement, there hasn't been any fires here (yet).
Many of the buildings have that same blackend color. I don't know why it is but the smell in these places is something you don't soon forget.
i work in a place like this in amsterdam.
Mmmmmmmmm, Amsterdam
So are they rennovating this? I mean why else would they remove all the abestos?
For some unknown reason, I believe the abestos has to be removed before the building can be torn down.
Thanks puddleboy
God I hare developers...HATE HATE HATE THEM...
It's not that I hate developers. I hate what they do. I've seen them rip apart perfectly good wooded areas. They cut down all the trees and after they put up their 'cookie cutter' homes (they all look the same) they plant these really dumb looking trees that have the shape of a corkscrew.
Unless you live in a tent, some developer built the home you're living in now. Not that I want to take up for these people, but they do perform useful jobs, it's probably the way they develop that you disagree with.
True. This was once a peach orchard. Beyound that (the trail) was once a flower garden. Gladiolas still grew wild until the neighbors dug them up.

All these houses once looked alike too. With the passing of time, they now all look 'lived in' and a bit different from each other. It takes a good 40-50 years for a neighborhood to pick up 'personality'
Hey, Dr. Pudd, are the corkscrew trees uglier than topiaries?
Possibly the ugiest version of one. I tried to find a picture, but this is the closest I could find.

It must be a local fad. Here, they make them out of tall spruces and cedars. One of my neighbors has one that he let 'grow out'. Now it just droops.
Thanks for the pic, Backy.
Lol, I remember that. The floors crunched like dried poo, and there was a dead baby bird.
is that a chair on the wall by the ceiling
Why, theres a chair up there!
Oh my goodness, there is a chair! How'd that get up there?
