Arched Hall

Arched Hall

The riveted arches in the hallways connecting the male and female buildings to the medical center were very unique.

I like the black and white with the arches, simplistic and beautifully captured!
Looks really steampunk, like something out of a Jules Verne novel...
this so crazy i cant believe that people were so mean to those kids i feel bad for those kids it makes me sad i wish i could helped them do anthing imposseble i could god bless u kids
Motts, are those orbs or dust particles?
(very top of wall on both sides)
orbs? nah, look closer, those wall ornimentations have 3 holes in each of them, two small and one large... that electrical conduit goes through one, all the way down.
ooooh..I see
I think the arches make this hallway look a bit creepy.
i wuz right here it wuz so cool
Interesting contrast of pleasing presence of arches done in iron work.
thats really scarey.... this doesnt really seem like a hospital. creeepyyy
Those mettalic (( maybe iron ? )) arches give this hallway a cold and naked feeling of lost hope. Almost looks like the inside of a naval ship. I would not feel comfortable in this hallway.

The rivets are really industrial-looking. It makes me think of the hull of a ship. Interesting design motif.
I worked at Pilgrim in '56 as a secretary. I walked through these tunnels many times. Usually at the end an honor patient would sit and while walking in the middle of the tunnel he would switch off the lights. Had to use a skeleton key whenever entering or leaving a room. I typed up patient histories; back then there were no copying machines so everything had to be typed. I parked in front of the Admin Bldg and in the morning when entering the building the male patients looking out their barred windows would should all kinds of obscenities to me; I was only 19 so it really made me uncomfortable.
