Ward Hallway

Ward Hallway

The wide central hallway.. it seems to end up ahead, but the next ward is to the right, following the crooked pattern of the Kirkbride design... it is evident how the light can enter from both ends of the ward hallways.

ANOTHER ONE!! I'm waiting for somone to step out from the end of the hallway as I stand/walk through the dark. Amazing!!
I would love to hear the echo of footsteps in that hallway (my own that is - not someone lurking about)
SLEEPOVER ANYONE???
ya lolz sleepover anyone hell yes i would stay there overnight seriously
Hey... as long as I have a few packs of smokes some water and a candy bar (all the food groups!) ...... I'm game!
this is fantastic. i would stay there in a heartbeat,
Me too! Girls' Night Out, ladies? ;-)
You know, if I was with several other people who I knew wouldn't chicken out on me and run away, I would definitely spend the night there, no problem. *drags out sleeping bag* Let's get this party started!!!
A couple friends of mine know someone who wrote a book on the place. They are going to see if he can get them in.
We haven't heard back from him yet but it is a long shot anyway. They went up there and were just driving around when they were pulled over. They told him they were from Rhode Island and got away with it but man, security is so f*cking tight! You wanna know when he gets back to us?
Security is tight because some asshats went up there and started a fire. Not to mention the swarms of drunken idiots parading through peoples backyards thinking they are going ghost hunting........It isn't spookyworld up there so grow up and act like adults. You will be arrested if caught up there. The residents in the area are not putting up with the charades anymore. You've had fair warning people - end of story.
Yeah, yeah, we've all heard the lectures before. I'm well aware of the risks that would be taken if I were to go exploring. It's not like I intend on crawling through anyone's backyard to start a fire inside the place, to get drunk off my ass, and dance around like an idiot. I have more respect for historic sites like Danvers than that. True some people can't wait for it to be demolished but I for one can. I like the whole structure and position of the place. I think it's a beautiful piece of arcitecture. I am sick of all these new houses. They all look exactly the same. there is next to no charachter to them at all. They are one of my unique pet peeves.
Chey, in Michele's defense I think the images of Byberry on this site show that not everyone shares our respect for these places. Many people just see a derelict building as a place to take drugs and party, and as a result they quickly become an eyesore and a hazard.

Sadly there's no way of controlling those who get inside - indeed the 'asshats' are less likely to be deterred by barbed wire and sealed entrances as they just smash their way in.

Put another way, would you want a Byberry in your neighbourhood?
I would LOVE to have Byberry in my neighborhood, I would explore the shit out of it!!!! ;-) (probably spend more time there then I do On Mott's magnificent site!!)
And how do you know it isn't "spookworld" Michele? You know that everyone involved in supernatural research isn't some lunatic right? What is it with the rash of people with attitudes coming here and ruining the fun of this site?
didnt aerosmith paty here for a couple weeks in the 70's? I seem to remember a story about the vacationing with drugs at an abandoned mental hospital. One of them locked themselves in a room with crack for a couple days.
Aerosmith recorded "Draw The Line" on a 100 acre estate in Armonk NY which used to be a convent . It was owned at the time by a psychiatrist who wanted to turn it into a treatment centre for adolescents.
LOVELY!!!
Motts rules!
Wow, another great one Motts!!

BTW all, I have my Rainbow Brite sleeping bag ready!! ( I still have it and i'm 27!! lol)
Just wondering how you didn't get busted while you were in there..or when you came out..
Just by being sneaky... ;-)
Great photo. Hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel.
JM,

That reminds me of a saying I heard in a Franklin Day Planner seminar several years back: "That's either the light at the end of the tunnel or a very large train coming right at us."
Simply, Haunting
The exploration stuff is largely moot now. Most of the buildings have been torn down. I understand the bitch the people at the bottom of the hill had. Would you want strangers parking on your street, crawling through your yard, just so they could sneak into a place that is off limits to the public anyway? I think not..

Trust me I worked there. Unless you really wanted to take a chance with asbestos exposure,or collapsing stuff, you'd wouldn't want to go just to party. The place wasn't in all that good a shape when it was closed. It couldn't have gotten better over the years.
C-R-E-E-P-Y. You never know what might poke it's head out from the end....
It's like the light at the end of the tunnel.
Creepy !
anyone who said they would sta there over night......one word....INSANE....in a good way....i really like the pic but it looks like a scene in a horror movie where the killer is about to turn the corner and you have to run for dear life...love it<3
staying over there would be an experiance for many but i would never do it just the thought of being there tresspassing on their home just feels wrong
staying in a place like this would freak you out if you went some place like this bring candy and a gun
out did your self again MR MOTTS!!!!!!!!
FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing shot here.
that shot gives me the creeps for some reason, i don't even know why.
pretty much my fav. out of all of the pics.
I did my psych nursing rotation at this hospital..it was creepy occupied in the late 80's!! The halls were long and they had these large open areas, called common rooms where all the patients hung out...sometimes they'd fight...if they're "area" was invaded by another patient...
After gaebler I lived on these grounds. I remember this room! It had a board in the corner that said "today is. Tomorrow is. Yesterday was. "
Normally I like hallway pics but there is just something not right about this one. I don't know, maybe it's just the mood I'm in.
Once again it seems you have captured another figure in the end of the hall on the right window. So beautiful! I love your work. Please email me when you get the time mjsweet87@gmail.com thanks!
Creepy, love it!

Question: What is the last letter of the word "hospital"?
