Crux

Crux

The crux of wards G and H. The 1920's addition to the right facade is evident.

Even the boards over the windows and doors are painted maroon. That's some crazy shit there, bro.
You are soooo lucky that you got to see Danvers!!
Great shot! The color looks like a blood wash,
U are sOOOOO LUCKY YOU GOT TO BE AT DANVERS STATE ITS LIKE MY DREAM TO GO THERE that is crazy shit lolz
I wanna live in something like this soooo bad. It's absolutly gorgeous.
Whats that huge brown spot on the roof?

Um, Mike? Do you guys not speak English on purpose, or what?
^^OWW! Disss... dissy dissy diss diss. Twug turned to mike and said "DISS, MOFO!" Are you going to sit there and take that abuse like a little girly man, mike? Are you a fag or something?

Seriously, mike, I'd advise you not to try and score chicks in on a site that's into old buildings, you'll be better off displaying your l33t skillz on a CS forum. But, then again, those are mostly devoid of mankind's better half. Still, you'll have as much chance there as you have here.
Ward G is being restored by AvalonBay while ward H gets knocked down. I hope that they keep that turret. Then again I wish that more of this incredible structure was being saved.
Redrum, REDRUM...
ever wonder why the whole place is painted red?that in its self should tell you what they did to people there.
Why, it should indeed. Thank you.
Do....you....think, maybe....that they painted building.....with....BLOOD?!?!?!
== : O
Yup cus my frens mom sed that befor they burn the boddies thay take dem to a secrit room en drane the blood en den they painted the bilding red. I'm sorry I just can't control myself ; )
I loves youse guys. :-)
I love youse guys too!! I've been sitting here laughing my head off -- even while I am so PO'd about the demolition.
This building is just beautiful...It reminds me of architecture seen in some fancy European city.
Again, this looks like some old town, sort of on the lines of what Celine says. Not that anyone would want to live in a haunted ex sanitarium, but could you imagine the housing problems they could solve? LOL!!! There's a lot of room in those old buildings! I wouldn't want to because of the haunted thing, but, ...well, I was just saying. LOL!!! :D
Would have made lovely apartments but I guess they would rather use dry-wall. As far as the "haunting thing", I don't care WHERE you live, there is history everywhere. How do you know what's happened where you're living now?
Mass sucks for demoing the place
One Time, as a MA resident, I have to say, YOU suck. ;)

But seriously, MA is not responsible for demolishing Danvers. Pointing the blame at the state for letting go of the buildings doesn't solve the problem.
The place had to be demo'ed it was a dangerous derelict. It did however deserve a great deal more care than what went into it. It didn't need to be done on the cheap.
everything is gone what a shame
when i hear the news i cryed
Incredible architecture. I feel a sense of evil eminating from it though.
i would love 2 do there....... But that some crazys shit.... u see all th windows borad up... man.
ok so now it's 2008, anyone have any updates ? Lynne? Twug?,BigED, the illustrious Mr, Mott?
"Gone condo." ;-)
anyone seen the made for tv movie "rose red"? some of the buildings remind me of the place they used in that, must be the red brick and oldness. im so gutted that i will never get to visit this place in person. How could they tear down such a fantastic building, just think about how much skill and workmanship went into it! ist so so sad.
its crazy on how many insane asylums were in Mass. its sad that just a little over 100 years as a country, were building asylums.
Absolutely breathtaking building. I love it!
Danvers State is certainly my FAVORITE "castle." It looks like from something out of time, so mystical. I love the bright, red brick contrasted to the other lighter-colored stonework. Someone on the 'Net has posted a very interesting montage of DSH pictures to music on youtube. My two favorite songs set to the pics are "No giving up" and "Colors" by the band Crossfade. I liked these songs so much that I got the CD. These songs go so well with the tone of this hauntingly beautiful hospital. Too bad it wasn't rehabed-I would have loved to work in those art and music cottages that they originally had there-dream job!
