Auditorium

The pitch black auditorium lit by my flashlight... got it on the first shot too!

You can see the holes for the projection booth up top.

Looks like the Kung Fu Theatre in the movie "Bruce Leroy". Very nice
Hey buck, i know you from Byberry!
Motts, what kind of flash light do you use that it gave off enough light to get this great shot?
3 D-cell maglite... I have a habit of losing them though!
Motts, I heare that. I've lent out, lost or forgotten at least 20 flashlights at Byberry...some pretty good ones too. Hey --- if anyoine finds a flashlght at Byberry-- its mine! lol
were the chairs nailed like that?(bet they were) kinda creepy to think that they were left that way .
No, the chairs weren't fastened to the floor... in fact they change how they are laid out every now and then.
omg wow that is so wow!
Refreshing to see some graffitti that isn't merely black stick figures with someone's mothers' phone # next to it.
Hey Motts! Who changes the positions of the chairs now and then was wondering .The Ghosts, maybe?(giggle) nonetheless does look downright creepy .
Jesus H. Christ -- pitch black -- means you don't even really know what you're gonna see -- and they turn out like this???!!! Motts, you make Ansel Adams look like Olan Mills!
I was talking to a man today. When he was younger he used to have and go sing to the people in there. He told me some stuff about how creepy it was. Even when it was open. He told me the main thing he remmebrs about it is the smell. I guess it had a really high strong smell oh piss. I feel bad for him.
I was there yeterday. All the chairs were set up in 2 almost perfect circles. in the center of the circles was a strange configuration made up of some of the other chairs and other debris. Kind off spooky huh
There's still some kind of entertainment going on in there, that's for sure. (LOL)
not the creature comforts of a relaxing day at the movies
you might find yourself sitting in a fresh puddle of spray paint (LOL)

Speaking of spray paint, what do they do with the empty cans? With the amount of tagging that goes on in these places, they should be littered everywhere. In all the photos I've viewed here so far, I think I saw one. Possibly somewhere in Byberry.
They hired some professionals to paint graffiti for the movie Session 9.
I spy a Hence! Go SKE!
I saw the movie, Session 9,and in this auditorium some guy got killed
i remember this room from the movie session 9
hey motts are the weird-o doll-thingee's still in there?
hehe this reminds me of that scene in i think it was a clock work orange, where he has his eyes locked open and has to watch the movie lol i dont know why.
Hey Motts, I'm not sure where you live but i'm in the new york metro area and work for a construction supply company and we supply mag lights of many sizes and colors. I can get them for you at whole sale cost. It would have to be at the most 2 at a time, but i should not be a problem.

I figure i'd mention it since you said you lose them all the time.

Feel free to email me at buckykatt317@yahoo.com. After you contact me at the yahoo address i will give you my home email address.

I just don't want 50 orders for mag lights lol.

let me know!
when i was in there i couldnt figure out how to get down from the belconies... o well.
thatz a pretty cool pic...i like...i like a lot......<3
TO THE PERSON THAT FEELS BAD FOR THE PERSON THAT HAD TO SING THE SHOULDNT U FEEL BAD FOR THE PATIENTS THAT LIVED THERE HE WASNT THE ONE SMELLING LIKE PISS! HE ALSO DIDNT HAVE TO SMELL IT EVERY DAY! IM SORRY JUST GOT A LITTLE MAD!
Ive seen a few hospitals, not "state" and not one of them had a auditorium or theatre were these teaching or for entertainment purpose.
Initially designed for entertainment, but they could also be used for meetings and in-service training as well.
Thank You Lynne
yea the graff is pretty fresh
im sorry for my last twocomments i guess what i mean to say is we all most caring people have the power , i' VE NEVER SEEN APATHY STOP ANYTHING . WHEN I SAY WE HAVE MORE POWER THAN THEY EVER WANT US TO BELIEVE !
Place is gone now so I don't care saying it, but it took us all morning to set up the damn chairs like that. I was hot as hell too.

Then that night, some retards tried to burn down the building!

Later on they got rearranged in circles fooling around...

God that place was fun
i cant believe people did that to that place that was a place were people lived for years ya they may have hated it there but there is no reason to do anything like that
That must have been one helluva flashlight, or a fairly long exposure, that place it really lit up!
Amazing! i am soo enjoying the shots on your website! it looks like the scene from clockwork orange!
"...wrong place..wrong time"

anyone remember that from session 9?

I found that to be the scariest part of the movie
I bought the movie Session 9 From ebay two monthes ago.
I got a 2D cell maglite I dont see the difference do you?
Ugh! People defaced the whole wall with spraypaint. What the hell is wrong with some people?
I've got a DVD copy of a tour of DSH from 1992. You should see the condition of the hospital in that DVD. Almost pristine.
it looks like theres someone standing on the dark balcony, the left one1 spooky
I've looked at so many pictures of abandoned hospital auditoriums recently that when I went to vote at my neighborhood school today, I thought *it* looked oddly different, with all its signs of active use by a bunch of active children.
It looks just exactly the way I saw it in my head when I read about it. So amazing!
This room is mentioned in the book "Project 17" IT IS SO CREEPY!!!
@Trakker,
Please don't use the term 'retards'. It means 'mentally ill/challenged' and is very disrespectful.
@Allison,
I love that book! I've read it twice! I can't find it anywhere in the new place I live, though! It sucks! :P
@Motts,
I am loving all of these pictures! Ever since I read Project 17, I wanted to know more about DSH. I search things randomly.
I've actually been wondering if anyone from my family was ever a patient or worker there. Does anyone know how I can find out?
if so, email me here:

Thanks!!!

Question: What is the first letter of the word "abandoned?"
