That's always a comforting sight. I think it's hilarious that you took a picture.
Can't believe thats all they have to do, patrol abandoned property.
This hospital is actually patrolled by a private security company, who was driving around the buildings furiously; this local cop was just reading the newspaper in a shady spot.
I try to approach the security guards (not the police). Some of them are pretty nice. I met some nice demolition guys who brought a 106 year old pew out of an abandoned catholic school to my house!
Motts, you said security was driving around furiously... did they know you were in there?
Nice Car
I would be far too tempted to stick my hand out and wave at them... But then, that's why I'm sitting here looking at these beautiful images, and not taking them. (Though I do know of a couple of very interesting looking old asylums in NC...)
how strong was the urge to toss a brick?

(For some reason I get upset when someone tosses a brick through a 60 year old pane of glass but a cop car, not so much.)
If I were the photographer this one would be titled,
"OH SH*T!"
Uh ho...Busted
Are the cops allowed to go into the building after you?
Cause your kind of sitting duck waiting in there
Anybody Seen The Po Po's
i worked there for awhile doing security, cops park in back overnight, sometimes for hours
i worked there too and i didn't care if people took pics, please i use to let everyone take pics of the buildings. you have to it's like a land mark. so if you where there while i was there i woldn't have cared. i would have walked around with you while you did it. i did that with these two guys one dressed up as micheal myers (from halloween) it was on halloween and they took pics of him in his costume. i was even in a few pics. hey if you are creative like that you can deffanetly do what u want in my book. i got intruble for people walking on the property but it was well worth it so hopefully someone knows where those pics are and if so could you e-mail them to me? @ tmandmv691@yahoo.com it's of me (in my security uniform) leading him up the walkway. the guys where really nice and funny. but anyways getting off the subject your site rocks the pics are the best. feel free to e-mail me anytime. from Tina
you don't have to let people take pics in face you can get fired for letting ppl take them . what you are supposed to do is take their camera and exspose the film so that it can't be developed. i was reading my comment (or novel) and i put you have to what i meant is i had to, i wanted to let them do it.so yeah i did get introuble for letting those guys walk around, but if they knew they took pics and i let them they would have fired me on the spot.so i did take a risk letting ppl take pics but oh well, it was worth it!!!!
I remember one night my friend and I were sneeking around the hospital grounds and the security guard's spotlight hit us. Running around that place in the dark while being chased by security gives you a crazy rush. I love it.
Good one Mona Lisa!
Whoa, wait up there, is that my Dad's car?!
I drove up to an abandonded hotel once to look around, as soon as I pulled up to the hotel I saw a cop car hidden in the bushes, patroling the area so instead of getting busted for tresspassing I popped the hood to my car and pretended to have engine troubles. The damn thing is he never bothered to see if i needed any help!
tonite....im going to video tape my experiance at the foxboro state insane asylum with my friend. wish us luck....
We Would Out Run Those Cops Any Day
wonder if our pal dookie got narced simply because of that comment
i remember when i visited here in 04 the security guards were actually driving around crazy-wreckless--and after running at breakneck speed back to our car we realized they didn't even notice we were there at all, they just kept tearing ass around the whole place. ...and this was at like, 1am on a wednesday night.
can the cops go in the building if they saw u and that was a close one if u get caought ur f*****
I'm sure they're only really concerned about destructive kids, homeless people, etc. Also, they know these places aren't structurely safe.
how can you get in their without being caught???

i heard theirs a tunnel that lead's into the basement somewhere around the back...
nice pic tryin to find that place my self
I grew up in Foxboro, My Grandfather was the Head Electrician at the Foxboro State Hospital. I notice in all these pictures you didn't get to the tunnels that run/ran under and across the street to other buildings.
I love how you were hiding out on the roof, looking down at the cruiser, and the sucker inside of it had absolutely no idea. Nice work. :)
sometimes cops are even MORE
stupid than they are portrayed to be
on television....most are just as
Rule Krazy....
I was at the state hospital a few months ago. My wife and I brought my stepson to the playground (right behind the property) and I took a walk over to the main building and walked right in. I never saw any security at all (although I know they patrol the area regularly). Very interesting architecture to say the least.
OH SHIT ITS THE 5-O
Holy shit motts how did you keep from doing something like dropping stuff or waving at them
Self control?
Hahahhahahah, omg THAT is priceless!
I wonder if by some extraordinary circumstance the cop that had that car stopped by your site and saw his cruiser!
Probably not, but that would be pretty funny.
HaHa Foxboro cops are a joke.. now the North Attleboro and Plainville cops are the ones you have to watch out for...
ya there was a fire there me an my freinds saw it man was it musta scared those firefighters bein up there 0-0
security is so tight there you can't even get within 50 yds of the place without cops chasing you my friends and i tryed and we ended up running away just as the cops came right into that stop and shop plaza
"Peek-A-Boo I See You!!!"
You should E-mail this pic too the local police station it would make for a grate laugh!!!
Hey Shawn (McDonald), I think I know of you, or maybe even know your brother from high school...geez....what's this, a reunion!!?
Bombs away
sugar in the gas tank
Walk with invisible silence through the modern day ruins.

But beware the tin star.

Always carry the schematics of self preservation.
Hes probley eating lunch.
lol. Kinda ironic. You dodge around security only to take a picture of a cop.
Excellent. Those guys were a royal pain in the a**!!! I was driving down the street to find a place to park just to take a looksie and about 3 cops were following me till I was at least a half mile away from the place. A bit paranoid??
The good ol' Foxboro PD. Never around when you need them, always there when you dont.
i would messed with him, like started dropping random things near his car.
CHEESE IT, it's the FUZZ!!!
srsly tho i wonder what the cop would do if you started droppin stuff. would they go in and investigate, or be like, eff that?
Ahahahaha! He's so clueless! That is the greatest thing ever. Epsecially taking a picture of it.
Awesome shots Motts!!!
I wish I lived in America...all these awesome abandoned places! Yes, if it was me, I wouldn't resist the urge to chuck a brick or two at that car!
Crap! Cheese it, man! It's the fuzz!
Hey my union is picketing out there as we speak.
They're coming to take you away, hahah.
What happens if you get caught? You get a fine or what?
Someone made a comment about you being on the roof, looking down at the cruiser while the person inside had no idea. It totally made me think of the Phantom of the Opera :P

Have you even been caught?
Not in a too-compromising place (yet)
Nice pic motts, gotta love foxboro police. I'm amazed the state police wasn't there. Now the foxboro police is accross the street now.
My mom used to work there when i was a kid - in the newer dorm style buildings. I still have a set of the keys that would open pretty much any door in that place - including the tunnels
