Light Streams

The rooms facing the outer perimeter of the building were pitch black from the boards.

hey when were these shot? ive been to met 11 times though i understand its been torn down now, these are only in the ctg unit, i have nbearly 2000 images of most of the rest of the complex from when it was still standing including the power house, morge medical, kline hall, furcolo, and most of the tunnels if your interest, email me at knerr2@juno.com
It's not torn down yet
this seems so clean as compared to the rest of the place
It's in the process. I was up there last week, and I had to climb up the back of the hill, because work was going on in the road. They're mostly working on the 'left' [your left if you're driving up the entrence] of the grounds.
hey motts did you ever try to go into the rooms?
lol ive been there...places is MESSSSSED up
This area is clean because it used to be the porch. Looks like C-2. There was no paint or tile to get funky. slamviche@yahoo.com
its 07 and its stell standing ive been ther a lot all i have to say is dont sit down and shot your eyes
why would they leave blodd tests and papers there it just makes me want to go so badly to see the place. ;)
I was a staff member at the Metropolitan State Hospital from 1952 up intill 1969 and I have to say that some of the treatment of patents by the staff was absolutely outragous. You would see patents being physically and mentally abused quite frequently including the younger pre-teen patents that I knew of who passed through the childrens ward. The staff was quite merciless and cruel toward patents and I will never forget the 16 tough years that I spent here and I will never forgive the horrible staff.
I worked there when the Dept of Revenue stored old tax info from 87-90. I was mostly closed except for ward a,b & c for the 1st & 2nd floors. We were on the 3rd floor,it was real creepy being in there, but I never saw anything really scarey.
Motts, I drove up there last night (it's open now with people already living in the condos) but I can't figure out if you took photos of the so called "children's ward". If not why?
The psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents was called the Gaebler Center, although it was on the grounds of MSH, I believe it was its own separate facility, so I listed it as a separate location - http://www.opacity.us/...childrens_center.htm
Ok I actually went into the childrens ward yesterday, the night before I drove by the admin building. So my new question is (now that I saw the "scariest places on earth" special, how were you not worried about asbestos?
the longer you look at the picture, the longer the hallway looks! scary picture but great all the same!!
I love this picture. Very industrial. I love the dark with the few streams of lights. :_)
Is it still standong? I want to go see it so badly, but i am quite far away sonce im in oklahoma, but is there a chance i can go wander around the building?
I think they knocked it doen and turn it into apartmnets.
Those were called the cages. it is where we could get some air, and alittlt privacy. I was a pt. 1973-1986. Want some history? eddiegellis@gmail.com
