Portico

Portico

One of the few ward embellishments, this is in the inner courtyard.

I really enjoy this shot! It's wonderful!
I like this...going into an unknown world...
It seems to be inviting you in, perhaps mentioning that there is a nice warm room waiting for you on the inside? Come right on in, we have many things to straighten you out a bit. Sad.
all I see in this photo is sadness and evil, the doors just open to say "welcome to hell"
Seems like the last person who was there fled so quickly they forgot to close the door!
It's a cheap afterthougt for building a empty thougtless piece of loser state garbage. Damned, Mott's you have captured this one, again.
The fact that the door opens out really bothers me and I don't know why .
It kind off reminds me of some horror movie- I can't remember the name, but I totally agree with Kurt!
" Welcome to Hell! Step right up."
Love how the door is wide open, waiting for its next victim
at least there isnt anyone in that top window... that you can see...
again with this same shot- awsome, even in the dead of winter!
man it looks like it belongs in one of those its late im in the middle of no where its raining ang my car just brokedown and i need a place to stay for the night
Really great photo! Would love to hang some of these on a wall or in a gallery.
My mother worked here in the 1970s. Having resigned myself, 2 years ago, from a currently active agency , I wish I could say things have changed for the better for people with developmental disabilities. They haven't.
Beautiful on the outside....Hell on the inside!
very inviting..... were the doors just left open like that?
Yes, but they led to an inner courtyard as the building was a square shape with a hole in the center... so there would be no need to sealing it up.
Something that is ornate as this isn't hellish at all, especially if it led to a courtyard.
LOOKING IN WHILE SOMETHING LOOKING OUT.
My mom was a patient here in the 70's and life inside a living hell.
I worked at this place from 1989-1991. I was a Rec. Therapist and worked evenings and weekends. We played Badminton and Frisbee in this Courtyard all the time. The whole place gave everyone the creeps. I did not know about the documented murder or the graveyard! There were plenty of rumors about other stories though. You've outdone yourself capturing its creepiness.
Come on in.
What an awesome shot!
