i wounder if anyone ever got pushed down hear to calm them down
I really doubt that.
How would that be calming? It would make most people more upset.
Freaky shot. Looks like a porthole into the abyss. Great photography, Motts!
I think when you design a hospital. You design a laundry chute to be a laundry chute and a quite room to be a quite room. It's like asking if the cooks at the 4 star resturant ever used the toilet to cook lobsters.
lol hehe i can always imagine the ole fairy tales when the wickid iwtches push the little girls down the laundrey chute!
Is it just me or do the simplest little details seem the most disturbing? A rusting chute door, a broken chair, a sink, a faucet. The wider room shots are incredibly powerful, but these tight shots have such a desolating feeling of the loneliness and dispair of the place. Not sure how much is origional and how much is just the fact decaying buildings always feel a bit... 'off' but it's astonishing.

I have to compliment the photographer, this is what art was MEANT to be, the beauty and horror and dispair and hope of the place captured in absolutely magnificent detail and color. I've taken art classes, been to galleries in 2 continents and even done some photography myself, but I've never seen anything like this. It's absolutely amazing.
Well if I was there I would have tried to escape through it- as long as it was big enough...
i bet as eaither punishment or as trying to get someone over come being ummmm. whats it called when your afraid of small dark closed in places hmmmmmm i cant rember.... anyways think about it being in there for hours mabey days in some where your absolutly tarrofide to be in horrible huh
And I am betting that the chance that someone was placed in a laundry chute as a form of therapy or punishment was remarkably small.
noo i finaly remberd what it was called claustraphobia HAHA!!!!!!
I Agree With Seraph. That's almost exactly what I was gonna say
Ok, umm, that is creeping me out, i am expecting some gross dead thing to come oozing out at me!
Well said Seraph.; real Art, the kind that pushes the buttons of our humanity. I don't think there's any other way of pushing those buttons, not a planned way, and they need to be pushed. Like exercise in a gym. All the rest is just machinery to keep us going.
Wouldn't it be creepy if an ashen, pale arm would slip through the opening very slowly, then swiftly swipe at an innocent passer by?
You people have very overactive imaginations. Mental patients in laundry chutes? Highly unlikely. I don't even think the hole is big enough to stuff a person into.
thats not for Laundry
Did you look down it? XD
Is my shirt in there? I left it there....jk.
If it's not for laundry, what is it?
I really doubt that is a laundry chute.
This is a great pic.
I live in the apartments they renovated this place into.
They made these into trash disposals, I believe.
Its so hard to imagine that this place used to be an asylum, its absolutely beautiful now(:
Looks like a porthole on the Titanic or Lusitania..........
It looks like a route to a tunnel.
It is a little disturbing. But thats Met State for ya! I love The place. My favorite next to Torrance.
