How do you navigate? You never fail to find the morgue in each place youve been and I'm sure its not always marked on the buildings...
great shot by the way!
Morgues and medical facilities are almost always centrally located in these mental health facilities, but sometimes they are in seperate or well sealed buildings or wings; I've missed out on a few for those reasons.
gettin to the morgue was the easiest room to find in the whole place....i was amazed when i walked into this room...its just so weird knowing your in a room where dead people used to lay! freaky...
i felt the sprits around me the whole time i was in this place...its just a rush of cold air and compression passing by as u walk through the pitch black with small light source guiding you through
Any water in the trays this trip?
It is the 27th of August. Has the hospital been demolished yet? Just wondering. I'm in AZ.
I was in there 8/27/05, there was a hell of a lot of "Red Water" in a couple of trays.
Thom,
The hospital has not been demolished, but there has been extensive cleaning and gutting of the insides. Seems like someone is trying to preserve the place or something.
I would love to go along with them or even do this on my own, but I'm somewhat "sensitive" so I don't think I could handle something like this. I still haven't accepted it fully and still somewhat scared of this ability I have. My house and neighborhood has a lot of history, so I hear and see alot, even in my own home! I jsut tend to ignore it so it does not freak me out too much. but great photo! Keep up the good work
I find it interesting that 'sensitive' people usually type or write the word just as jsut.
The buildings are not being demolished, the are being completely re-done and will be used as low-priced housing. They are trying to insulate the building so that they can bring in heaters in the winter and wook on the inside then.
Jsut what are you trying to say, ~Me?
Jsut that I am sensitive. Nothing more Twug, Darling.
I do know that some of the people on the site rock, and you are definitely one of them.

With a sly smile thinging, I have this one RIGHT where I want em. MAAAAUUUUUHHHHHH!
They are demolishing the main building, called old main. They're just looking for the money to do it. I'm pretty sure the morgue will be demolished too.
Hmm.. Looks like I have to get going on visiting quickly, then. Jsut to join the old conversation, I'm a sensitive one, too. ::grins::
Remember the few times that I brought bodies in the middle of the night to this particular morgue. Their were two in the complex, one in the Main bldg, and one in Haskell.
Lynne, I have to wonder if any of the patients ever accidentally wandered to the morgue and were permanently traumatized by this? Has this ever happened anywhere you have worked? Perhaps a morbid thought but my morbid mind just has to wonder.
Virginia,

No, nothing like that I've heard of where I have worked.
What floor is the morgue on?
I've worked in a funeral home for some time now so its hard for me to be kreeped out by the whole mourge thing.
But I still love your work. Good job!
Shame you missed out on all of the left behind stuff... ah well, that's life.
dudee, thats creepy i wonder if you could like fall because of i the floors i would imagen so
where is this place at? can I go and look around?
My teacher went there a few tears ago he said he saw ghosts and had something falling him. he managed to grab a book of the records or something like that. He still has it and he'll never forget what he experienced there..
all these picture's are amazing, i actually live on this property and have gone through a few of the smaller buildings but found nothing as great as this.
The deterioration from the previous NSH gallery and this gallery is astounding. This wasn't nature at work. This was mindless vandalism. Those who do this take stupidity to a whole new level.
this is not morgue. this is a mortuary. Morgue is not called as hospital basement in england.
then, i know the freezers are imported from America. England and America has own taste, even to design a morgue/mortuary referigator. you can watch by yourself at http://www.leec.co.uk
The words are used a bit differently in the United States. Morgues are usually located in hospitals with refrigeration units and sometimes an autopsy table, while mortuaries are the rooms at funeral homes where bodies are embalmed and prepared for the family.
but are you agree that American and England have different design for even a morgue? American made morgue's refrigerator, a doors for a slab/tray. But England made morgue's refrigerator, a doors for 3 untill 4 slabs/trays
