Oleander

Oleander

The flooded cafeteria.

A blackish algae grew in the puddle, and made the floors extremely slippery.

wow, how deep was that? It looks really deep by the stairs.
Only about an inch or two... it looks deeper because of the perfectly still water's reflection.
Yes, it looks like it should be several feet deep - amazing!
Like an indoor swimming pool on the Ship of Fools.
its not even flooded ne more...its all dried out and spacious...this is where we were when we heard the bloody screams coming from the other room!!
Wow! Amazing shot! I love the title you gave it as well!
I really enjoyed this in contrast to your other gallery photos of the cafeteria. Glad you revisited.
Mark, i've heard the same screams you're talking about in the caf, but also in the theater. I've heard that lynx inhabit this area of Western Mass, and they can sound frighteningly similar to a woman's scream. I'm still looking into it, though.
Sorry, those were my fault... Everytime I see a sitz bath I scream like a little girl. :D
Motts, didn't some of these places smell disgusting? Ugh, Just thinking about it makes me feel sick!
I believe this was the Olander cafeteria. The food was about as good as the slick that you see on the floor.
Jonny Mac: did you used to work there?
Worked there for an extroadinary 14 year. It was a second home and I knew it like the back of my hand. I worked 10 years nights, so I had time to explore every nook and cranny. I was part the the developing restless spirits, part and parcel. We communicated on so many levels that I couldn't begin to tell you the ways. In the end I can tell you I loved my lost souls and accept guilt of things I could have done but didn't. I sort of when
Johnny Mac: wow, that is a long time and what do you mean by " I loved my lost souls" I am not sure what you mean by that? thanks Renee
There was always a connection in my inner soul of those who had spent a lifetime in the past in these hallowed halls. Again they spoke to me in so many different voices and so many venues withing those walls. I remain haunted by those souls living and dead who came to be my friends and maybe not so friends. Thankyou Renee, we definately connect.
Johnny Mac: I know that this is no where close to what you have probably seen at this state hospital, but I used to work at a nursing home before I became a nurse, and I had such a deep connection to all of the residents that I cared for and spent time with. I was devistated at the lose that I endured and the neglect that I saw, it is heart breaking and rewarding all at the sametime, and I love that there is some one else out there that I can relate to and understand. Your comment almost brought tears to my eyes, and a smile to my heart it is wonderful to see that you cared so much for these people who needed you the most. have a great day Renee
Spooky, sad, but excellent photo!
is that plastic on the floor!
A very haunting shot, I amagine this is what purgatory would look like...
