I find it interesting that There is still a clipboard there propped up, as if someone was coming back to work after break.
It doesn't look like this anymore, that's for sure.
You should see it now.
How old is this picture?
It was taken late 2004.

Why, is it all trashed? :o(
What does this button do.....?
I have yet to see any graffiti. You children must be well behaved!
There is plenty of grafitti around. You're in the wrong gallerie.
Geronimo, go to the Philadelphia State gallery (Byberry) if you want to see graffiti.
today me and my 3 friends went in, it was crazy. after being scared 5 or 6 times we finally walked threw the old hospital building, it was just 4 girls scared to death..i have a lot of really great pictures. its just so sad how people trashed this place. im so interested in learning more about it.
things here appear covered in dust.. yet some of the toilet paper holders and clocks are shiny new metal...
ARRRGH!
This is really trashed now?
That's a shame. And people wonder why no directions are given...
Not that I want to believe that this sites regs would do damage. I don't. But, if only everyone understood the "do no damage.Take nothing. Leave nothing" approach...
Anyhow, this SO fondly reminds me of all the old B&W monster/sci fi movies I grew up watching as a kid in the late '60s - '70s.
I found alot of porn in this building. i also found some giant plastic thing with straps that looks like its to hold someone down in the lower level
Can someone explain what this "controlled" ?
This is a boiler plant control panel. The guages (air flow, fuiel flow, steam pressure, etc...) and indicators are on the 'vertical' portion and the controls are on the 'horizontal' portion.
Thanks EE -- that is definitely a monster control panel -- obviously, today, it would be computerized.
EE has worked as an Electrical Engineer in a number of generating plants (fossil & nuclear). I have also worked in steam heat and chilled water (air condtioning) plants (that serve portions of cities) as well as electrical substations. There are panels that are more monster than that, but modern plants have a few computer screens that replace all of the massive boards. About the only thing that is a wired control today is the emergency stop pushbutton.
What do you mean it doesn't look like this anymore? Is this all trashed, too? Doesn't anyone patrol this place?
It's abandoned...
To all I use to work here. In this Boiler room. I started out as a helper and moved to Asst. Stationary Engineer. Those boards were state of the ART back in the 70's the were pull out circuit boards each one pulled out so that it could be replaced. That area was once enclosed it was the only area that was air conditioned they had to do it because the heat was burning out the boards. I remember on day sitting in that room and Orange & Rockland called and they said we had to get off the gas and go to Oil at that time once you received the call from O&R you had 45 minutes to get off there gas and on to Oil. If it was very cold out the homes would use more gas and they would feel the draw so they would call us and tell us to go to Oil. Back in the 80's that control panel was how you did your job I have left many fingerprints on those buttons the powered those 3 Boilers. I have since left that field and started working with Computers, much cleaner.
I had my Labotomy done here ! My brain was Abby Normal..
