Was that plant dead or was the ceiling gone so it got water occasionally?
Yeah, it was watered by a leaky roof.
Wow ... I LOVE this shot Motts - I am fairly new to the site and just browsing the archives, you are a spectacular photographer, my favorite pictures have to be the ones with the plant life coming inside like mother nature is reclaiming these sites. Fantastic!
this one makes me happy! finally a forgotten plant that survived the odds!
YAY! a live forgoten plant
That plant has a pretty unique view.
WHAT A VIEW THIS LOOKS LIKE THIS IS THE PLACE WHERE THE CURE FOR ALL ILLS COULD BE FOUND INFACT I FEEL BETTER ALLREADY.bY THE WAY ANYBODY HAVE ANYTHING ON wILLOW bROOK MENTAL HOSPITAL IN STATEN ISLAND NY?I USED TO WORK WITH THE RETARDED ADULTS WHO WERE PUT THERE AS KIDS.OH THE STORIES THEY COULD TELL.THERE WAS THIS CRAZY MASS OF UNDERGROUND TUNNELS CONNECTING THE BUILDINGS
Interesting...you've photographed the ONE positive outcome of a leaky roof! That plant is in just the right place!
It makes me sad...How many patients sat at that window and peered out, reaching towards the sunlight, longing to break free of that place and be part of the outside world.
