You never know what might still work in this building.

Still erie looking at it today!
There was still electricity in the building? How long has it been abandoned?
I often wonder who pays the bill ....
I think it was shut down in the 80's. This is on an active hospital site, who pays the bill. The cost of running a few lights 24/7 is nothing compared to the bill for lighting the whole campus... although I do think it's strange that they didn't cut the juice.
Now HERE'S where I'd live if I were homeless! Oh yeah! Plug in the TV, boom box, microwave, oh and then I could recharge my electric razor & toothbrush! ^_^
Why is it the lightbulbs I buy last a week and these are chugging along after 20-ish years?
Wonderful site and incredible photography.
Fleurescent lamps tend to last years. I had a house for five years and the kitchen lights never failed while I was there. I now live in a loft in what used to be a factory, which was refurbished in 1995 or so. The original 24 hour lamps are just now starting to burn out according to the maintenance guys. I've always wondered if any of those fixtures or other goodies in those abandoned buildings (like fans) are rescued and put back into use..
I'm surprised they still work. As the building has been abandoned, the juice should be cut off. The water seeping into the walls is gonna short everything out eventually.
If you were homeless, why would you have a t.v., boombox, or electirc anything?
Almost any lightbulb can last for ages if there is a constant supply of power to it, it is when a light is turned on and off that the damage is done to it, you can just leave a lightbulb burning for years and nothing will happen to it, but if you turn it on and off for a day or two then it will burn out much much much much much quicker
are those lights actulay on! haa omg thats amazeing i wonder how everything else still looks so rotten.
The flouresent lights we have in our laundry room lasted 8 years before they finally flickered and died. I'm not surprised those still work.
Why would there still be power coming into this building? there is no use...
I think its an interesting image to see them still working even though they're hanging vertically from the ceiling. Such an odd sight.
Now that is so awesome!
Strange! The lights are still working in an abandoned builing after 20+ years? I wonder whom is paying the bill?
Some places abandoned or not have to keep lights on at key locations for Fire code reasons. There are a few abandoned factorys in my home town that the city requires out side lights on the grounds near entrence ways and Fire Exit lights with in the building to be keeped on as well as lights leading to any place where there are electrical panels and water shut off valaves connecting to the water mains with in the building.
did you find the lights on, or did you flip a switch out of curiosity?
Thats funny!
