All-purpose cathetre anybody?
Thats a scarry thought
Ummm...Disposable nasogastric (N/G) tubes. These tubes enter the stomach through the nose to administer food and medicine. Not fun.
N/G tubes are also used to relieve abdominal distention secondary to use of a Bag Valve Mask
(Ambu Bag). I'm glad they're disposable, I hate to think having a used one stuck into my nose!
Yo This Is rigged Cuz Uh Back In 1909 They Didn't HAve Labelers!! Uh Duh!!
Um, dude ... the building was MADE in 1909. That doesn't mean it wasn't used until well into the latter part of the century. Labelers have been around since at least the late '50s - early '60s.

So, in your own eloquent words:

UH DUH!!
Now now...

Anyway about the picture do I even want to guess what was stuffed in them after so many years. Also possibly what they may have mutated into.
My house was built in the early 1900's. They didn't have indoor toilets then. Our house must be "rigged" because we have a commode.
feeel sorry for who ever had to clean that cupboard out nastey job
There was nothing "nasty" in that cabinet- just useful equipment used to care for sick people. Glycerin swabsticks are used to alleviate dry-mouth, NG tubes are used to decompress the abdomen or administer food or meds to a patient who can't eat. "All purpose catheters" are simply hollow tubes used for many different things- possibly oral/nasotracheal suctioning, irrigation, etc.
I have worked in the medical field for 10 years, and I would rather have just about anything (and I do mean anything) then a N/G Tube.
yea disposable tubes, they thow them away in the yard... (see other images)
had one of those n/g tubes.

not fun. even worse when they pull them out.
I remember - when I was a nurses aid - assisting the nurse in inserting a catheter.
Wouldn't this be storage for clean items that are listed on the drawers? almost like today>
Think any specimens are left in that drawer? :O
I love this shot! It's always interesting to me when labels are left and things like that...helps to create more of a picture of this place when it was operational. Also, AMAZING location and all your shots are wonderful! I really enjoy your site. Just wanted to say that :)
an NG tube will stop vomiting by suctioning all matter (including gastric juices) out of the stomach. Also rests the digestive system--horrid things-i had them put in as a child, wide awake, and told to swallow as it went in. i feel for any kiddos in this place
