its like a church. i think it would be kinda nice to get married in there, you know if it were not overrun by plants
Well you have to watch out for chupacabras in the undergrowth and the man eating plants that abound in abandoned greenhouses!lol
This reminds me of what is left of the Rouse house. I live a few miles from it, and its a creepy place. Some of you may have heard of it, its also known as "Murder Mansion." A kid murderded both his parents there back in the 80's and later it was turned into a illicit casino with mob connections and some guy was clubbed to death on the stairs. It burned down like 3 years ago when the owner was on vacation...the ruins have been left there and the greenhouse which has been partially burned still stands. Its weird, as this is right along a main road and is part of a neighborhood with houses right next door and across the street! Just goes to show how abandoned places are just left to sit.
I love this photo.
Barbara, I guess you're lucky in the US then. I'd love to do some urban exploration but in England everything gets torn down or rehabbed into apartments before the dust even gets chance to settle. We had massive institutions just like you guys but when ours closed in the &0s they all got sold for housing etc. The best you can hope for is the odd abandoned house or derelict factory :-(
You're right, rich, in some ways I am lucky - but around where I live this is actually quite uncommon. Around where I am, things are pretty much the same...I would assume the property the house stands on is still under possesion of its previous owner - why it hasn't been leveled (perhaps it has by now, I don't get out that way often) I don't know. It could very well be the ground is evil after all the horrible things that happened there. I know I wouldn't have lived there and I wouldn't want to live next door either. Since the building is a neighborhood lot, there really isn't anything that could be done with it. I doubt many people jump at the chance to build a house there with the place's history. Otherwise, for the most part, urban development has immediately torn down recently abandoned buildings, and the town itself is careful to do so as well so as to keep a good image.
Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory --
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heap'd for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts when thou are gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Ahh...
Percy Bysshe Shelly

ive been to this greenhouse, or at least the outer part of it because it is fenced off to prevent people from going in and being hurt by any falling glass.....i did however notice on numerous occasions (as ive been to this areamany times before) that in that fence.....is a hole.....and ive always wondered if that hole was mad by you
