OK, in color this shot is just as great as it was in black-&-white and now I can see that the skies WERE in fact gray.
that place is perfect, i would have fought to find a way inside, just fora peek
Mausoleum - Tower.... why would they put a tower in a Mausoleum?
It is so hauntingly gorgeous! It looks Victorian
I could realy do alot of black magic here. It is so depressing, i LOVE it! the wall looks like it was painted with blood. If it were realy a moselium then it would have the potential to be a very evil place. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
One thing I know for sure about people of the magick craft. They don't advertise.
IF it were really a mausoleum???? If it isn't a mausoleum, then what COULD it be???And, when someone is buried, in a Christian burial, the ground, and casket are blessed with Holy Water. Seems to me to be the opposite of evil.
The colours in this shot are just amazing! Wonderful!
another fine picture..what do you use to get such a clear photo???im here to stay,so you all get used to me...lol...great shot...
amazing.
At our Salesian school the nuns said they throw medals of Mary Help of Christians on property that they need. Supposedly, thats how they ended up with the 20 acres we are on in NJ since the twenties.
The color of the leaves strown all over the beautiful grass is so GREAT! I have to say that the colors of the trees make the place look very sureal.
The red vines make it look like blood overflowing the walls.
Beautiful photo, but once again, sad.
This is the family tomb...I have seen the crypt downstairs
Wow, I am fascinated by this album, as well as the entire site! I spent HOURS on here looking through all the wonderful photos! These were particularly incredible because of the people linked to it that commented. Bravo!!
it looks like blood pouring out the front corner
More tragic evidence of the destruction wrought by Vatican II. Many of the comments here are plain uninfomred other than those who express appreciation for the fine photography. This was once a place of holy learning and holy use and nothing else. Orate Fratres.
The tower was a bell tower the building was also a chapel for funerals for those interred there. The bell is still in the tower. A friend of mine toured this building recently when the caretaker showed him around. There is talk of MAYBE opening this up for one day for the public to see.
Thank you for a great gallery.
Just want to say Thank You for these shots. I just happened to be looking today and found this site. My attendance at the school seems so long ago but it is part of my personal landscape. Perhaps it is because it was at a time when everything was an experience. My memories hold the school when it was a vibrant, living place of learning and growing up. Perhaps one should also offer that Goshen was (is) a beautiful town in New York. When I had my Sundays with my family we would go to the restaurant with the racetrack (Home of the Trotter ..?) which was a great place. Each week, usually Thursday afternoon, we would go for a walk in the town as part of our schedule. Just walking and talking and enjoying the environment. So many lives in that place. The later dark history. The changes. ..and now decline. The shots and memories are great here. Again, thanks for the time and thoughts. Deo Gratias.
Hugh, Goshen is still a beautiful place. Probably not the same as it once was but they have a wonderful farmer's market every Friday, lots of fantastic restaurants, etc. If not for that eyesore of a Gov't bldg it would be nothing but lovely. The track still holds races on the 4th of July weekend too :-) Glad this brought back memories for so many. It was truly a pleasure to read your comments while looking at the photographs. I'm now in love with this site. Went walking the Salesian grounds the other day with my son and it was simply peaceful!
