Since this is the enterance of the School and one of the First Pics you would be looking at let me say ..........

The Salesian Order of Preist teach at many schools in the area and all over the Country and World. Yes they are Catholic and this was a Catholic School. The Salesian Order consisted of many Schools this one of them, Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, Don Bosco Tech (now closed) in Paterson, NJ,. So yes this is a Religious school and like many others are coming to an end. I Hope that the Town of Goshen, when they build on it, Keeps some of the Salesain school intake in some way shape or form.
Before it became a Junior Seminary Gearge Carlin was a student at this school. I graduated from there in 1963. Sad to see it in such a state.
That's George, not Gearge!
I live in Goshen, and it's a bunch of rich, cheap snobs, they're probably level the place before they're done!
We studens used to have to shovel that walk!
That must have been a beautiful place when it was still running.
It was. (student 75-77)
It was a beautiful place and we ran day camp during the summer for local kids. It was Awesome!!!
Attended for 3 years from 1977-1979. The mansion, pavillion, tower, lake, grounds, etc. were all full of old world beauty. Summer Camp, Fall festival, classes of maybe 10 persons each, etc. all created an amazing world unto itself. I visited in about 1997 and was shocked to see how such a wonderful place had fallen into total ruin.
I was at Salesian in the mid 80's..it was a really beautiful place..not fun to keep up and we the students sort of resented being used as "slave labor"..looking back it wasnt such a bad place to be.
I was there til fall of 85, it closed in jan 86, it was a nice place
The best years of my life, the man I am today is all because of the Salesians. I will always cherish the memories of such fine men.
I used to be there all the time cause my mom worked in the office, a beautiful place to grow up, I was lucky.
I love reading the comments on this gallery because so many people had good experiences here. This must have been absolutely breathtaking in it's day. It's bittersweet to see this grand ol' lady abandoned. The echos energetic school kids in her halls are silent now. Thanks Motts for preserving this through your lens.
