The Library

The Library

Lots of outdated books remain in the library. There were also educational films from the 60's that were accompanied by a record.

sad end to books left forgotten and unwanted in an abandoned school..................what reason behind the closure???
Actually this was the senior classroom. The cabinets behind the classroom held all the textbooks that were used for instruction (bookstore).
I remember the films that had the audio on records. The nuns could never get it in sync with the video...and...sometimes the record skipped. I have very fond memories of those films. Don't remember a heck of what they were about, but it was fun watching them. LOL
My German teacher in high school (early 80's) used to show us films that went with the record too. Always just a second or two out of synch as well.
I wish i could do this to my school library. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL .
That's the stuff dreams are made out of. I once had a similiar fantasy. LOL
Wow, where i live all this stuff would have been stolen in the blink of an eye, the walls would be home for graffiti, and the windows would all be broken out, but thats just what i think.
I treasure books. Sad to see them left behind. =[
someone hated reading......
I would think that before they either renovate or demolish the building, they'd do something about those books and films. Like maybe an auction of some sort that would generate some sort of funding towards something.
come on folks, lets recycle
NO,NO,NO, NOT BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!WHAT A WASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Come on, what do they do with all this stuff, anyway, throw it in adumpster??
What a waste!!
Haha, eduational films in the 60's? 'Your body and how its changing' lol.
what a waste of knowlage
I am impressed that this place was so multi-media enriched. It seems like they actually cared about the children's education here.
I went to the building many times last summer (because I live in Goshen right near the school) and I have to say that now it is much more difficult to get in the building because of the building being gutted and renovated...its sad to see them demolish the building.

PS--the reason it closed was the lack of enrollment...although many people like to attribute it to the death of Paul Ramos
There are some pretty neat, outdated texts in that room... but most are all moldy and warped, and useless.
No way, Sue. The school closed about 20 years after the death of Paul Ramos.
I bet that there are some wonderful books still in the this library.

Signed: An American Soldier stationed in Germany.
What a waste :(
i whold take some books
why dont you take any of this stuff!?
exactly what im sayin trevs but how do we know they havent i woulda sold them records for mad money producers always lookin for them records u cant find
Back in grade school, we had "filmstrips" that went with a record, the record "beeped" for the teacher to turn the filmstrip to the next frame.
This looks like a corner shot of the room where the Brorthers studied and preparted classes next to FatherDon/Earl's office on the 2nd floor. [except the rookie brother who had study hall]
All our books were stored in there over the summer. It was Father Don that ordered up to date math books and Father Earl purchased a fantastic English/Literature series.
The most precious book was Father Justen's VERGIL text. It had years of pencil notations [vocabulary help] and told where he would pause for a joke.
One year @ Goshen we had a dog who the Seniors named DIDO!
i would have a field day digging through all of that stuff.
How sad :(
it is very sad to see your old alma mater in such adeplorable condition. I enjoyed many wonderful years from 1942 to 1945 at this school. my wish is to someday be able to visit it.I REMEMBER THE CONSTRUCTION OF OUR BEAUTIFUL GROTTO.
i have been to the school many times with friends. the cardboard boxes to the right held latin bibles,we each took one,and also grabbed one and signed it .i visited it many times after that then i got arrested, and have only been there once since.
I found a Gone With The Wind biography in this room, which i kept and read. I was alone and only had a cellphone to light my way through the darkness. Creepy place indeed.
