Much of my Berlin-based hospital research had turned to garbage this year. This particular morning was spent driving past a number of derelict old hospital buildings that were being renovated. We kept considering having a go until the construction workers, or more often than not, guard dogs were spotted inside the fences.
DRK Kliniken was just another hospital on my list to see, and although it looked quite old and exquisite, it was in use for the most part. We spotted some small buildings across the road and hopped in. Despite the stark and tagged interior, the building had a bit of its old charm remaining in a few places.
The library next door sounded like fun, but someone squatting inside definitely did not want anyone else entering. Every possible entrance was rigged up to stay closed quite well, or even rigged to trigger a homemade "alarm." Maybe some other day.
